Will instantX accelerates the mixing process?
Will the liquidity update be a sufficient solution?
InstantX will accelerate the mixing process but only if there are other clients available for mixing. If you've already anonymised your coins as much as you would like, why would you leave your wallet unlocked to anonymise more and pay more fees? Liquidity providers are a short-term fix in my opinion. Although there is a big incentive to run a masternode with 1000 DRK, what incentive is there to provide 1000 DRK or more for mixing? I want to set up some masternodes but have been unable to anonymise enough coins to set one up. InstantX will NOT accelerate the mixing process. I figured out a way to use the entire masternode network in a completely 100% decentralized way, but the trade off is it will require inputs that have at least 5 confirmations. However, this means that when sending a transaction, the 10 voting notes are going to be unique, so the system will be very difficult to DDOS (you'll theoretically have to DOS all masternodes to succeed). However, this means you can't send multiple transactions one after another based on InstantX, they have to be a few minutes apart. The really nice thing is this will scale now, to HUGE levels with no effect on the network. Darksend just needs more users, we can bootstrap it with the liquidity providers and it'll take a few hours for people to complete their mixing. Eventually when we have enough users, we can disable the liquidity providers and Darksend will get to the point where it just takes a few minutes. It just needs 2.5 minutes per round, so 4 rounds (which is rather good privacy) could theoretically take just 10 minutes. I'm going to record a demonstration today of InstantX and put it on YouTube, this technology is really amazing. I can't wait to hear what people think of it.
bump Big thing is going to happen~! That's why i invest Darkcoin. The INNOVATION~!

How come the sudden rise?
well placed news story's and pump group, when the dust settle's its going down again witch is not bad,we all want cheaper coins. Source? The amount of exposure we've got over the past few days is more than enough for this price rise with out any pump. More like exposure across major outlets, successful masternode enforcement and instantX looking promising.

Hi, anyone more having issue with cryptsy deposit?
Have problems with placing buy or sell orders, sometime's my balance is gone and order not placed, even reloading the page does not help, hope the site does not go down or got a ddos attack. Moving my BTC to another exchange now before it's to late,i dont trust Cryptsy at this point. Well your trust is misplaced as cryptsy has more trust in my eyes than most other exchanges. Big Vern is well known in the community and you don't had to worry about him taking off with your coins.

It's really hard to tell in crypto, it's almost all pure speculation (although yes based on great fundamentals for darkcoin). So it's probably a mix of the quality of the coin, with a few rich individuals using the momentum to raise the price of their investment. There's really no reason whatsoever that we should have a lower price (or even marketcap but that's another story) than Litecoin (even though that applies to almost any altcoin developed these days just speaking in terms of features.)

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

I just read somewhere that DRK will go soon to OKcoin. BTC-e will soon follow. Anyone can confirm ? I heard that BTC-e are not adding any more coins because their programmers got rich enough to retire.

The pump groups that know what they are doing are monitoring for such coverage and news. They start pumping just when the news break out so everyone thinks it's because of the news and joins in panic buying.
I doubt this is what's happening. Simple reason is, that DRK has market cap of around $10MM, it's way harder to P&D than a coin that has $500k market cap for example. Those P&D groups have much easier fish to fry.

Is there any legal issue in running a Masternode?
I don't believe so, because the coins are "pre-mixed". In other words, when you are a masternode, you are not mixing a transaction from one party to another, you are mixing peoples' own coins. So no one can say that you relayed money from a client to a drug dealer for example, or that you took part in a specific criminal transaction. I think this nuance, albeit small at first glance, might prove to be meaningful in the future.

Also Blake Anderson's comment at http://youtu.be/z6r5OwQO3Gc is interesting, he posits that premine + pos might be interpreted as issuing a security - perhaps not now, but in the future when the legislation catches up. In that light Darkcoin being PoW with no premine / ito seems a very safe bet.

I agree that is very hard to say, but honestly I think this price rise was overdue, we consolidated and bottomed at around 1.60 from 15USD for a long time. So I think Darkcoin was already oversold and down to a very solid longer term investment capital. So this growth seems pretty natural, substantiated in all the recent fundamentals. I guess only time will tell but it feels very solid .

Question: Didn't Vertcoin implement stealth addresses? And aren't they open-source? If so, wouldn't it be trivial to implement stealth addresses into Darkcoin? EDIT: What about ShadowCoin? Their stealth address technology is open-source as well.
Stealth addresses should be used right from the start of the blockchain, otherwise they are not that efficient alone.

Whoever has knowledge of cryptos and wants to invest is already aware of DRK and has or has not taken a position. Come on, with 534 currencies no one can really know them all. Mainstream is still only a vaguely familiar with the concept of BTC and DRK is only recently really getting out of obscurity. Just the other day I spoke with a friend of mine, the oldest hacker in the world, a genius whose spiritual and intellectual father was Richard Feynman and he has never heard of Darkcoin before. I piqued his interest and hope he'd let some of his crazy old guys know about it also and, hopefully, contribute ideas etc. It is a long, long, long, long, did I say long already?, road before the Darkcoin is really a part of everyday's life for millions of people all over the world... There is an unimaginable amount of talent and skill lying dormant and getting wasted within those oldschool hacker and cracker groups (who are mostly very poor as well), if you have any connections to those people, try to get them involved. It's easy to do the thing you've always done, and then what happens is that the next generation will overtake you and make you obsolete. Don't let that talent be wasted, get them to build the future with us.

If I understood correctly that's not a tradeoff at all, very rarely people want to send their whole wallets immediately after receiving the funds. But in case it is a tradeoff for some people, would it be possible to work both ways - the default and preferred way would be the system you described, and the optional would be the method that might in theory be ddos'ed so that the transactions wouldn't be instant when under ddos?

There are small and large. If a group is large enough, DRK is a very nice target as the hype leads to quite big natural buys which helps the pump and makes it easier to exit. The pump groups that know what they are doing are monitoring for such coverage and news. They start pumping just when the news break out so everyone thinks it's because of the news and joins in panic buying.

Hi, anyone more having issue with cryptsy deposit?
It seems that Cryptsy was a part of the staged pump. Have 3000+ coins in pending deposits for more than four hours! It won't surprise me if they have sold my coins at 0.00780+ levels and now they bought them back at 0.00710. If many other users had pending deposits during the pump it created low supply and the price rocketed. The can be other possibilities but something is always fishy there when markets are on the move. When all those coins will finally reach their users balance it will probably cause big dump. So beware.

Absolutely. It must have been the special Delta-Ebro brown rice I bought. (I thought the logo stood for "Delta" but now everything makes sense).
