Yes it is risky, but it depends on you what will altcoins do you want to buy or invest in. When you're buying in top 100 + coins you have a higher probability to gain more profit but the risk is too high. Be careful and make sure you study enough before you buy a coin.

It will be safer, but you will lose alot of profit. Get ethereum, but invest it in 333eth, so you will earn 3% every day

There are more than 1500 coins here in cryptocurrency up to 2018. Many coins were already dead and mamy more are tend to be dead in the future. Now, if you're going to invest, are you willing to take the risk of investing to non-top 100 coins? I'm sure.your answer is NO. You earned those money and of course you better put in a bit more secured investment.
