It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

...These guys are about building the next big thing, not ROI for anonymous small time BTT investors. ... We are at peak hype for Ethereum, so sit back and enjoy the show.

LOL, oxymoron detected, this is all about ROI for the funding founders those shrewd x-Goldman Sachs investors, they just found same naive tech guys to front great innovation. I'll speculate much of that initial investment in the "IPO" is fueling the sell off of Bitcoin today. I bet they making a killing on Bitfinex today.

Shocked go Ethereum, way to milk bitcoin

ridiculous. the amounts are still there (https://blockchain.info/address/36PrZ1KHYMpqSyAQXSG8VwbUiq2EogxLo2)
IF it affected, bitcoin would raise, because people have to buy it in order to buy ether.
But it won't effect much. We had yesterday over 50k volume on the big exchanges. what should 6 or 7 k change there?

Thanks for the link, that is some bat $#!+ crazy amount of Bitcoin for an unknown investment in an unknown quantity of fresh ether. Investors sure have some lessons to learn.

This cycle is part of the bubble to come it reminds me of 2012 when people got board with there Bitcoin and started investing in anything that used the acronym IPO.

Woot, CCMF within the next 6 months.

“Ether is simply a token useful for paying transaction fees or building or purchasing decentralized application services on the Ethereum platform; it does not give you voting rights over anything, and we make no guarantees of its future value.”

Why make a max cap? They want to raise as much as possible.

At Ethereum official site we can read:

“This sale will help us fund the continued development of the software platform, scheduled for release in the winter of 2014/2015.”

First thing, you are *not* a investor. The ethereum devs are clearly labelling all of you as "purchasers" of ethereum and not as "investors". Which should be interpreted accordingly.

Second, there is no max cap on this "IPO" and there is no max cap on the produced ether after IPO which means your "purchase" will inflate over time. Just like fiat dollars. Inflation = it will lose value over time.

this picture from a earlier post in this thread shows it all: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=428589.msg7994191#msg7994191

This picture in that thread clearly shows that the amount of purchased ether will be severely "watered out" over time. Unless the market grows faster and more than the speed of this obvious inflation of ether, the value will drop over time.

Thus, they are labelling you all "purchasers" and not "investors". Most likely they did so in order to make it more "lawyer-proof" if any of the "purchasers" gets pissed for losing money. Smiley

Yes, what I said was ROI for BTT members, founders don't really see ROI, because they are building it, they just see profit.

So essentially we are seeing a centralized crypto system being marketed as decentralized.

...Goldman Sachs investors...

As far as I remember they only mentioned in their video that they have someone in their team who worked for Goldman Sachs. Maybe they were working as senior assistants of junior intern on trial period? I worked for several largest banks, Coca Cola, Pespi and Forbes but it doesn't mean they will invest in my currency or that I have any contacts on the highest level.

Here you go, 8:10: "people who worked on Goldman Sachs" http://youtu.be/q5FDvzj8YX4?t=8m10s
It was enough for all those rumors about Goldman Sachs involvment. Some people just don't to use their heads.
