"Having scaled US$400 on Nov. 23, ETH spent a better part of the last three-weeks trading sideways in the US$400–$480 range.

The congestion ended with an upside break on Monday amid news that Swiss banking giant UBS, along with other banking industry heavyweights, are planning to use the ethereum network as a means of complying with new regulations scheduled to go live in the EU on Jan. 3.

Indeed, of all the altcoins in the market, it's Ethereum who is the best IMO, that is because until now it's still undervalued and I am happy to see something we have some good pump lately, but I am hoping to see more because if the increase continues, we should already be seeing $1,000 now.

what is this hardfork i heard coming on block 4730999 called Ethereumfog or ETF ? Is there any basis to this ? Barely had any info about it on google or anywhere. Can i get the fork if i keep my coins in myetherwallet?

Everything became good with the price of the etherium, but the network problems did not go anywhere. And the price increase only worsened network performance and commission price.

I don't really understand how the price of ETH can increase so much as Cryptokittens has slowed so much the ETH network. But traders don't care about it i think. They don't need to send ETH to a wallet.
Is there going to be a fork of ETH? Because there was a news about Parity wanting a fork because of the hack of their wallet. But a fork won't speed up the network.

Gas rate is going down a bit. I just made a transaction with 25 GWEI it went through successfully. Let's see how soon they can fix the issue.

These cryptokitties issue did not have an impact on the overall believe in Ethereum, that is what the market shows us. We already knew before cryptokitties that Ethereum has to work on scalability and also that there are several measures being worked on to improve scalability. Im glad that people dont get discouraged just because of some kitties, would have been a pity.

yeah! ethereum price rising crazy but now stable around $730.
yesterday i made an transaction with 4 gwei  and transaction completed in about 2-3 minutes. strange!
but now i can't say about gass price.. Even then Ethereum network better than before. getting normal.

It will be very interesting to see how the Raiden network enfolds and how much efficiency it adds to the Ethereum network. Exciting times for sure!

The other good news from the developers of ethereum is Casper FFG testnet is coming. They’ve got a three-node network working with two validators. Still a few bugs to work out. Whitepapers are cool and all but seeing this come to life is amazing. Casper Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) is a hybrid Proof of Stake (PoS) and Proof of Work (PoW) implementation developed by Vitalik Buterin, ethereum’s inventor, and others.
This implementation is apparently sufficiently advanced to the extent it could even be incorporated in the next ethereum upgrade, Constantinople Metropolis.

Thank you for all the info. Though I asked myself how far will those scalability developments get us? I think he himself said somewhere that it is only a big step into the right direction while it does not mean infinite scalability. But it is some time ago and I haven't been following the most recent updates. Do you know more about that? The last few days with the overloaded network showed more than ever that something has to happen rather sooner than later.
