Actinium Now Added To BTCCluster

I do mining in the pool you web pool for over 12 hours but still not received ACM payments, and I see also they found some blocks in your pool, how is this

Although it's not about a pool the project controls, maybe these few hints could help you.

Maybe you had config problems? Not sure as this is not our pool, but in the past we had sometimes similar problems, because of too high/too low difficulties set on different miner hardware.
I'd recommend you to try different pools until you find one that fits to your hardware/difficulty settings.

If you are using NiceHash, then pools like https://smilingmining.com are recommended. If you're using own high-diff miners then maybe https://goldmine.actinium.org is a good start for you.
There are also two official mining pools for diffs 32, 256, 512, up to 450,000 to try: http://pool.actinium.org & http://fastpool.actinium.org which are based on same software like the above pool you quoted.
There is also a #mining channel in our Discord with many helpful people.

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

There appears to be a coding error.  I notice the difficulty hasn't changed for now 118 hours or almost 5 days.  The developer lists 3.5 days as the difficulty retargeting timeline.  Please fix this mistake.  Also, right now the difficulty is rather high for the number of people that are mining.

Time:   2018-05-31 13:51:34 (1527774694)
Difficulty:   6637.522347094

Time:   2018-06-05 11:21:11 (1528197671)
Difficulty:   6637.522347094

If you think it's a coding error, then you have to describe it exactly. Everything else is only assumptions.
The rules of the Consensus are clear: every 2016 block a difficulty retarget will take place. Block time is 2.5 mins. This calculated together is roughly 3.5 days.
But this is only an estimated value for humans, because we think in days, hours, minutes etc. It is given to people to estimate things. You can't know in advance how much hashing power will miners use at any point in time.

Therefore, the Consensus will have to adapt to it. But every 2016 blocks only. If those 2016 blocks are being generated within 3.5 days or 3 days or maybe 4 days is a question of available hashrate, current difficulty, processed diffficulty etc. Also, our coin is pretty new, with a non-forked blockchain, so the many ASICs out there could quickly take advantage of it (for some time, but not forever).

It will simply take _time_ to adapt to all those circumstances. It's not year 2011 with GPUs only. Our coin never had the chance to grow up slowly, while technologies changed around it. It started almost immediately with ASICs.

So, please, before giving me any coding advice or making any assumptions that could provoke useless discussions, either open a proper Pull Request on GitHub with your solution, or simply stop writing about imagined problems you can't provide a solution for.

I am very open to any improvements, but only on a stable, testable, and falsifiable base.

Software isn't being done in a pub, with beer in your hand, or in a forum, with smileys.

Code is work. Hard, explicit, and very "boring" work.

I have used the best available code as base for this coin: Litecoin.

And I think these guys know much better than me how to create proper Consensus rules.
And I suppose they also know it better than you.

Now, back to mining/trading/Discord!  Grin

EDIT:

Here, a nice article, actually a comparison between Litecoin & Bitcoin. There you can read a bit about potential problems regarding difficulty adjustments. Scroll down a bit to the paragraph "Difficulty retarget"

https://litecoin.info/index.php/Comparison_between_Litecoin_and_Bitcoin

I do mining in the pool you web pool for over 12 hours but still not received ACM payments, and I see also they found some blocks in your pool, how is this

Hi doktor1897,

Due to network diff being abit messed up at the min blocks are taking a long time some times 1 hour to find a block on all of the network.

It takes 101 blocks to confirm. Pay is as soon as the block you mined on is confirmed.

If you have yet to get a payment send me your key and I will take a look for you. The pool is paying out so its prob just a case that the blocks are running so slow.

The network should pump 576 a day (EST) its pumping about 100 at the min if that.

EG... it taken 1 hour to get this block http://explorer.actinium.org/block-height/43278

Raster.

I'll try to explain it for you.  I see the difficulty still has not changed after 5.5 days.

I've been mining at Smilingmining and now stopped because it's a waste of electricity to mine right now.  No blocks have been found on this pool for the past 11 hours because the hash rate is so high, and there are so few miners.  Network hash at 20 Ghz.  So not hitting the 3.5 day retargeting timeline is causing problems.  Most of the miners have ran away, or at least, they are waiting for a better hash rate.

I'm sure there are developers out there with a solution to this problem.

EDIT: Sorry You said the same thing really. I did not read it all correct going bed now.

The block chain is done on a amount of blocks. Time is defined by blocks on 90% of chains.

So if the diff jumped due to big hash that has now been removed it is going to take a long long time to lower.

This is because the amount of blocks that have been mined. The chain will slow things down so the amount of blocks dont go faster than it should.

EG...

The chain should pump around 567 blocks a day. But if there was say 3000 blocks pumped a day due to mega hash rate then the chain will slow things down.

What you need to do is work out from the point of change the amount of blocks mined over the 567 blocks a day. Then remove that from the amount of blocks mined in 3.5 days around 1984.5 blocks and then you will have a number to work on.

Regardless of any of it the diff will change. and it will get stable. Its just a matter of time. If it takes to long for the network to get to that block diff it will drop the diff way low again and you will get 2000 blocks of fast mining followed by 2000 blocks of slow mining that could take weeks given everyone is not keeping there miners running at the hash rate that got the diff up.

To make diff stable you need to be mining. Waiting is not going to help the coin because the diff will end up going silly low to silly high.

Regards.

Raster.

I see a problem with your math.  This coin has mined 70 in the past 24 hours. Embarrassed  As you said, 2016 are needed for the next difficulty change.

The last difficulty change was 5.5 days ago or 950 found coins ago.  The problem is the hash rate has been decreasing; it's now 19 Ghz.

So as it stands it's not fun to mine right now Roll Eyes; low returns.  If the coin's difficulty continues to drop, then that certainly could be a problem for the developer.  Instead of taking another two weeks to change difficulty, it could be two months.  I would imagine that is not a positive feature for a new coin.

Reducing that retargeting time to say 1 day would certainly help but I'm no coin developer.

And I see a problem to discuss such things outside of GitHub.
All you can do is to provide more hashing power. My duty is not to make mining "fun again". Also not to change code because some individuals want it so.

Consensus is there, live with it. Or mine another coin.

As i can see in the site, there will be NO ICO, Premine or even airdorp.
So this will be fully trade able in the market.
When does it ready to be trade in market?

Yes, this coin can be traded on https://bitfex.trade and https://bitebtc.com

We are not an ICO (not Ethereum-based), and there are also no Airdrops or any kind of Premine.

What you mine is what you have. Or you buy it on an exchange.

From the pools I operate I would say that you can mine 100-200ACM a day. But this is only a rough estimation.

It also depends on the hardware you use and the current difficulty.

There are three pools controlled by the project and also several others you can find in this thread:

for fast miners & NiceHash: https://goldmine.actinium.org/
for "medium" miners: http://fastpool.actinium.org
for slower miners: http://pool.actinium.org

Looks interesting project with active and real dev.

Couple of things for suggestions:

1) "Symbol:ACM or XAT" shouldn't it be just ACM?
2) Add full link to bitfex trading pair - https://bitfex.trade/en/ACM/BTC

About coin:

Really needs some decent difficulty adjusting algo. Like KGW. 2016 block retargetting only works for few large coins like BTC/LTC with stable prices and hashrate. Thus now it goes trough "slow" phase, which will be followed by very "fast" phase. Once this hits bigger exchange or multipools, chain will get stuck. And plp will cry why their deposits not going trough.

Nice work Dev!

The alternative symbol is for cases when some other crypto is already using our default, ACM.

There will be no changes in the Algo. The Consensus rules are here to stay and won't be changed to follow daily changes in the mining rate. As I have personally no financial interest to earn anything from Actinium it's up to the community (miners, users) to decide on its value (or "no value"). People hoping that occasional mining will earn them many coins so they can later dump them, are only losing electrical power. Better to mine one of the available scamcoins with large premines. This coin can't offer such things. But what it can offer are several interesting technologies.

And even without any mining support I'd still be doing my coding work.

Currently, I'm checking the options on how to integrate Actinium with Electrum. After that will follow "the final Boss", Lightning Network integration.

Hi All,

Just a quick update. We had a raid brake on the BTCcluster at http://btccluster.hopto.org:8080/

The cluster pool is now back on line after a long re-build of the raid.

All payments to miners have been made.

Again we are sorry for the downtime.

Remember you can mine for ACM for free on the cluster.

Regards,

Raster.

The next step in our development will be to implement merged mining support.
As our algorithm is PoW-Scrypt we will try to get support from Litecoin miners & pools.

More info on merged mining here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/273/how-does-merged-mining-work
