Why would people go to a pool that is involved in theft? any exchange that just "takes" coins from people is stealing.  While exchanges could do things like limit deposit frequency, or maximum deposit size to limit the ability to dump at a certain price, outright stealing the coins and giving to others will cause a major backlash and could get them in legal hot water.

What legal hot water?  Who are they going to complain to?

As long as there is a big bold notice put on the front screen that any deposits discovered to come from multipool mining will be confiscated, then where is the problem.

Just give the coins to legitimate holders and screw the multipools.  They have been screwing the altcoin market for long enough, its about time drastic action were taken to screw them.  Its not as if the exchanges will lose out - the coins will still be mined, they will still be traded, so they wont lose commission.  They will just be preventing a dump from multipools.

OK - how about this for a question....

If you now have 5M LEAF, would you rather have it on an exchange where you fear that a multipool dump could drop the value, or would you rather they be on an exchange that will not allow a multipool dump?  I know where I would rather trade.  I'd rather trade somewhere that a coin could rise and fall naturally without the fear of a massive incoming dump of coins.

The multipools have anough coins in the last 2-3 hours to drop this to 19 satoshi from 27 in a blink of an eye.  So how safe would people feel about buying at 27?   Thats what keeps the values low.  Just watch what happens when these coins get dumped..  Hashcows manager will make a decent cut, exchange owner will make decent commission and the miners left will have a low price and a stupid high difficulty....

Stealing property is theft, and if you really want cryptocurrencies to be recognized as an actual currency by the world at large, then the same laws need to apply for them to be generally accepted by society.  If I deposited $100,000 to e-trade and then they decided they didn't like me, they cannot legally then just give that money to other people using their service and say "sorry, we don't like people who deposit money for x reason."

The multipools could easily complain to the authorities in their country and/or the country where the exchange is based.  Even if they had a disclaimer like you suggest they could not just "take" the money, they could refuse to let them trade it if it is deposited, and give them their funds back, but they can't just take the money.

Difficulty                    109.43375058
Est Next Difficulty    180.92652746

So what now?

What will happen is this...  If the price stays solid and the multipools dont dump, then it will be mined until diff change. We will then have high diff and once the pools dump, low value.

Or, the pools will dump before the change of diff, the value will drop - they will leave and go somewhere else. then next diff estimate will drop, when it does, price may rise back again, the multipools will arrive again just after the diff change and screw it again.   Its the same pattern with every single coin that these tossers multipool on.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if they switch coin when the diff changes...

Coinmarket - You seems like a reasonable guy that actually listen to the miners. I really appreciate your work! But I don't think gravity well is enough punishment for theese people. Confiscating coins may be harsh, but we really need to find a way to bring them down. If theese morons didn't push every single coin gaining momentum the crypto world would have been awesome!

We cannot steal other peoples coins. Thats illegal.
Do you want us to shut down due to legal problems? We dont think so. So, stop with the take-action-against-multipools thing.

Why?  Who will they complain to?  Its a warning and its cryptocurrency.  Who did Hashcows complain to when they were hacked?  Who would YOU complain to if coins were stolen on your site?

Answer - nobody.  No law enforcement agency would give a flying toss.  Thats the whole point of cryptocurrency.

As I said, happy to take the fees from the dumpers and couldn't give two knobs of goat shit about the community that has increased the trade on your exchange by about 500% in a week.  That is extremely blinkered economics.

As I also said, if you post the warning right there on the front page, what possible legale recourse would they have if the threat was acted out?  None what so ever.

Again, feel free to send me the entire source code of the exchange, Ill host one and Ill happily post that warning against multipools, lets see where people would rather trade if you dont think its a solution..

If cryptsy implimented a ban on multipool deposits, and also added LEAF, how many people do you think would continue to trade on coinmarket?

Just maybe try to scare them off? A warning message would suffice. That's not illegal, until you actually block them! Tongue

Instead of stealing, maybe you could just return their money, not accepting them, if you could spot the multipools!

You can put in the front page a warning, that any transaction coming from multipools will be rejected and sent back to owner. This is NOT illegal at all, it's your business and how you decide to do it.

PS: Speaking about illegal as we are trading completely unregulated cryptocurrency is not actually correct, they are a virtual currency and not legally represented (as today), so if you, say, "steal" a million LEAF, is like stealing 10000 golds on World Of Warcraft: completely legal, since we are now trading thin air for thin air (btc for leafs), the problems start for a USD/BTC and a LEAF/USD exchange, but this is not the case.

So please DO IT, return their deposit! Just don't steal them, don't let them TRADE. That would suffice, in my opinion!

Stealing would be stupid, but you can hold them and ask account owner to get them back and go trade them to another exchange...

That should be a good start! Every single person with a brain hates multipools.

12 BTC buy wall just got munched thanks to the multipools.   I have never said this about a coin before, and Im sad to say it now, but unless drastic action is taken against these pools by way of gravity well and exchanges this is dead imho.  They are mining enough coins in just a couple of hours to destroy the buy orders down to well under 20 now.

I agree that it's seriously annoying having large dumps by multipools, but on the bright side it gives people a chance to get cheaper LEAF!

Why am I?

Im stating what would happen if there were theft in cryptocurrency.  I can explain the penalties for shoplifting and burglary, but that doesnt make me a shoplifter or burglar does it?!

I have conducted many trades on here via pm with many people and I haven't cheated or scammed anyone, ever.  I really have no reason to do so.

Why is it a stupid idea?  If there is a clear warning in a bar that you cant shout, and you get thrown out for shouting - where is the issue?  If an exchange posts a big notice that any multipoll deposits would be confiscated, and they are confiscated - where is the problem?

That's why me and other are there, waiting some satoshi down, ready to buy in again from those multipools!
That's the least we can do to stop them, they are selling cheap leafs and we are buying Smiley

This will never happen.
And you are wrong about 500%.
Leaf represents one third of our total volume right now.
We think leaf can totally survive this, on some level. The market will adjust to the situation, thats is.
Did you expect LEAF to magically be very profitable, but without multipool dumps?
