imusify in Japan: Week 2 Update & Recap

Speaking tour from Tokyo, Fukuoka, to Osaka: June 24th — July 3rd, 2018

David Walters, Marco Aniballi, and Luka Pregelj have just returned from Japan, where they were representing imusify on NEO’s roadshow alongside Switcheo and O3 Labs. It was an amazing experience to watch them from abroad, and we are proud of our team’s efforts.

After our debut at the Japan Blockchain Conference — Tokyo 2018 our team had an interview with CoinTokyo, a Cryptocurrency Web Media Agency with a main readership of Crypto/Blockchain enthusiasts in Japan which was followed by a special NEO Meetup, and then left for Fukuoka — the Silicon Valley of Japan. The Growth Next Event, co-organized by the Fukuoka Engineer Lab turned out to be a great opportunity to connect with audience members on an individual basis and help answer their questions about our project.

Crowd cloud will rox

The smaller crowd and venue gave the event a more personal vibe. We could interact with about 150 participants after the presentation, and many of them had some pointed questions. “Will you also allow for downloads”, asked one of them. “We will”, I replied. “Doesn’t this devalue your streaming model”, he continued. “It may seem so, but downloads are actually good for us”, I said. “Yes”, said Marc; “ if you download a song you store it, and by storing it, you are inevitably sharing it with others on our network”, he continued. “This helps our Crowd Cloud to function”.

Good choose of NEO for platform and tech

We were returning from Fukuoka, a rapidly growing city, which is fast-evolving into the Silicon Valley of Japan and driven by the youngest ever mayor, Soichiro Takashima. The evening before our departure, we had the unique opportunity to present at the Growth Next Event, co-organized by the Fukuoka Engineer Lab.

When a user creates an imusify account, a NEO wallet is created and assigned to him or her. The users IMU token balance, as well as their reputation level, is stored in the context of the smart contract on the immutable NEO blockchain. User actions on the web platform raise the users reputation level and this level, in turn, determines their IMU reward.

In more details, events on the web user interface (see below) are signaled to the Python middleware designed for this project, which then triggers a return. And indeed, the awarded amount is not determined by imusify but by the contract and the users level alone.

The conference closed with a private event where David topped off the already amazing day with a freestyle rap performance, proving once more that imusify is “keeping it real”. Check out our imusify YouTube channel for the highlights.

We were also invited to address the audience at Keio University, a top Japanese university, renowned for excellence in technology and innovation, where our team, alongside with NEO Japan, Switcheo and O3 explained how various applications of blockchain technology can be used to improve the education system.

As long as there is good news for the community and already an exchange.
