Btc coop and Mithril did a lot of work with huc over the years. I understand with Mithril there was a falling out and BTC coop is in need of financial interests. Has there been any effort to keep these two on the periphery of either or both projects? Or are bridges burned?

I don't think MithrilMan will support Huntercoin ever again unless it's forked or otherwise removed from snailbrain's control. He intends to pursue his own decentralized game on the Stratis blockchain; it's not actually necessary to start a new blockchain like Chimaera. The hard part is the gaming layer on top of it.

I probably won't be willing to work with snailbrain again, either (too annoying), but I'm likely to help MM. Everything in the Huntercoin community moves slowly, though, so I think it possible some competitor will arise before MM's plan, Chimaera, or an HUC fork attempt are able to come to fruition. I have plenty of other coins to work on while waiting to find out 

huntercoin is opensource and everybody follows the conssensuss how can 1 person be in control or do you mean snailbrain controls the game with his bots now MithrilMan stop his?

I love gaming so I hope there are some more coins like huntercoin to come out. Game to make money is the best.

I'm in talks with poloniex and all looks good (they said yes) but I'm just waiting a double confirmation with regards to the time span between snapshot and release date and if that is still fine..

Anyone is free to work on huntercoin and no one is stopping them.

It will get support and anything could happen..

It's possible to put huntercoin on chimaera in the identical way it is now only that 100% of the newHucs would be mined in the game itself ..
this is not planned officially atm.
There is no point putting it in, in it's current form as it needs an overhaul imo

anyway 5% is very sad for HUC holder of CHI. although they get CHI free.

I think they have to be separate projects. Complete integration in the sense that the old Huntercoin blockchain would cease to exist is not possible. (and not desirable)

If a new huntercoin-ish game is made for Chimaera, then I guess it will not come out of nowhere but all beta versions up to a point will use the Huntercoin code base. When it's done, Huntercoin would have something almost ready to apply as hardfork, in whole or in part, assuming the community can achieve consensus.

A competitor that doesn't use the "play a game on our server, get some token" model would be interesting (to see how they deal with the bot+farming problem)

I think people are upset because main dev is leaving huc for a new project and leaving supporters with no guarantee of continued huc development.

Yes, it's open source and others can take the reins but still. People could rely on snailbrain it seems. Now he's leaving?

I think people are thinking more in terms of compensation than reward.

I'm assuming snail brain is the main dev here.

What is interesting is though is that snailbrain said huc holders will get 5% of total supply of 1 billion.

If distribution schedule lasts 100 years for instance.... Happy days Smiley

As long as redeeming Chimaera tokens does not require destroying / surrendering HUC or the actual private keys for addresses, we can redeem them for our customers.

I must say this whole Chimaera thing comes as a bit of a surprise to me. Looks like Huntercoin will be abandoned notwithstanding the support of many, myself included, over the past few years when there was precious little hope left in it. I even promoted Huntercoin during Blockchain Week 2017 in London and in numerous talks which I hold. Then, as soon as it looks like HUC is recovering, this news comes out of nowhere. Perhaps it will be a positive turn of fate, and hence why I will be claiming my Chimaera; but I don't think that HUC faithfuls deserve just 5% of the total coin supply of Chimaera.

Not good 5%. I know its a new project and they didn't have to give anything at all.

I think though they will damage their own ICO by giving such a small amount after years of faithful support by many here.

Better to support projects with a greater sense of fair play.

20% would have been more reasonable if the project is to be abandoned.

I hope they are false positives... The main reason to believe so, is the reliability of Huntercoin devs. I hope I am not mistaken by trusting them.

Anyway, some funny strings right away: as soon as installed, I see "Your wallet automatically synchronizes with Bitcoin network ...", and also "3 active connections to Namecoin network"... Why is this carelessness? 5+ years wasn't enough to clean up the code to at least remove the references to the coins this was cloned from, or those are kept in the code as artifacts of the past and proof of glorious ancestry..?

All that doesn't leave an impression of professional work

Since it has been mentioned a few times now that Huntercoin will be abandoned with Chimaera coming:  I plan on maintaining the Huntercoin codebase, at least with upstream updates from Bitcoin/Namecoin, for the forseeable future no matter what goes on with Chimaera as well.  So HUC is definitely not dying.

Well I've just done the most stupid thing ever - I've forgotten the passcode to my wallet since I haven't used it for 3 years or so. I guess that's it then - no way to recover my HUC? :/
