An Initial Coin Offering, also commonly referred to as an ICO, is a fundraising mechanism in which new projects sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin and ether. ... ICOs are a relatively new phenomenon but have quickly become a dominant topic of discussion within the blockchain community.

ICO means Initial Coin Offering, where the company or startup or team launches it in order to fund their project and participants in turn will receive tokens which may be used as utility token for the platform, or they can sell them when the token gets listed on exchanges

ICO = initial coin offering and means a company releases their coins or tokens the first time and you can buy them. The company wants to collect money by this way for the planned project.

I don't know if investing in ICOs is a good thing for newbies, you should be very careful, there are lots of risks. But listing all the risks here would be too much for here, maybe you can start another question. As I know for ICOs you need a good knowledge and that's very difficult. First time I invest better in existing coins, like Bitcoin.

ICO - Initial Coin offering.

You can buy coins or token before that they have come to the market. If you could find a good ICO, it the best option multiply your initial investment easily. You can buy coins or tokens cheap price from this sales. As a new investor visit and deeply analyse the Guarium ICO project (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3293429.0). It is ongoing good ICO project with high potential.  Investing in ICO is very risky. Always invest the amount that you are willing to lose(In the worst scenario)
