All I remember I was in college and suddenly we tuned into a FIFA match, and we harmlessly put a bet of 10$ I have absolutely zero idea when those bets turned to 1000 and once mad bet of 10000 (I had zero funds was deep down in gambling debt decided to take a risk call and it paid off). I do occasionally gamble but now I'm able to control it, once you learn the fear of loosing your life is when you suddenly are able to control yourself.
the story is pretty good indeed if we trace the gamblers started out of curiosity and dabbled when there is an incident like this when he got the gamble gain then he will try it again and continue until such that he eventually became an addict for the benefit large enough.
In my community a person lost his house after losing all the money. The problem was that the house was not his alone. His brothers and sisters also owned the house. The gang came to his house and told his brother to leave the house. His brother went to their father and told him that this house is not owned only by my brother. Please leave us. Gang father ordered to put the loser to death.

I've heard a somewhat similar story from an acquaintance of mine, but without gangs being involved.
Husband had taken out an extra mortgage for his house and various other loans to fund his gambling addiction.

A couple of months, maybe years down the road his wife find out and they end up having to sell their house.
Last I've heard they're living with one of their parents and husband went into therapy for his addiction.

Personally I'm never gamble until addicted. But I'm ever got addicted when some dice site launch a promo and I won those promo.
For somehow I keep gamble until I'm finally lose at the long term from that moment I realized the addiction of gamble was real !

Too sad you have lost the profits that you have won, it just went on nothing, there is a saying said that "you already got the money but you just turned it into a stone" I hope you get what I mean. Gambling itself is no good, what more addiction is, I guess if you can't help but to gamble, at least it is important that you know how to control yourself from betting, because sometimes, if you are not going to stop on betting, you are going to lose your money as always.
I don’t have that kind of kind heart like you have because you are feeling sad for the person who has lost his profits in gambling. My question to you is that why we should feel sad about him because he himself with all his knowledge did that and feeling guilty for him would be a funky thing for me. Everyone knows that what he would have to suffer after conducting some sort of activity.

I quit gambling long time ago when I was on the verge of becoming an addictive gambler. I used to gamble regularly with my friends and I found it entertaining until it started to affect my studies and social life. Then, I tried to reduced my gambling activities.

Then, I got rid of it completely as I got used to the new routine. It was hard from the beginning, but then you will get used to it because your time is filled up with other various activities

Quite good that you are out today of this gambling else sure by now you would have lost few thousands of dollar if you had become a addictive to it and keep gambling. It would have even effected your relationship and health too a great extent.

Great decision ha has made. I thought that gambling is bad for our income since it will have a negative effect if lossing is in a streak. But for some reason, if we gamble with our convenient time and our extra money then there is nothing bad to it.
No, there is nothing good at all in gambling. If you have big money and you want to waste it with immediate effect, only then gambling can service you more than anything. But here you have to think whether to go for earning money or losing money.

The choice is totally buyers and now this would affect your coming life. If you choice for gambling, may god help you and give you blessed mind.
There is a gambler in our society aged about 50 years. He is regular gambler and mostly he bet on sports and he is so lucky that he mostly wins and when he wins he spend his money on poor people in neighbors. Although gambler has no respect in the community but he received many respect from the people, because overall he is good man.

I used to play poker online. As i have temember, i was pregnant wiyh my first child at that moment. At first, i was just like to ease my boredom since i have a delicate pregnancy and was not allowed to go out at home regularly, So i tried looking for online games. But the things is i am sort of liking the game and almost got addicted into it. Been experiencing so many sleepless nights which is bad in my condition and in a day instead of sleeping, i was still hooked with in front of my laptop and keep on playing. Until i realized that it is not just bad for me but most importantly to the baby inside my tummy, so in an instant i quit.

Hard story to believe though. Grin

No one can quit from gambling instantly once they addicted to it but you may think too much about the baby will help you to get out of it. Loneliness is is also an important reason of getting addicted to something at that time you were spend too much time on online gambling resulted addiction for you but luckily you get out for a good cause.
No doubt in your saying that no one can quit gambling instantly for good. He can’t quit it even if he wants to quit that’s why call it as an addiction. It’s like the same that someone inhales oxygen while he wants to quit inhaling Oxygen because if he will do this, he would be soon dead.  Gambling has a proper method with which it can be easily cured.

I knew a guy who was addicted to casino gambling and he always took us to play with him. I always wanted to get away from these places ASAP because people were so nervous and ready to jump you for any reason, like you being too loud or whatever. When they were losing they were usually drinking too much and trying to blame anyone and everyone. Sometimes we could see them wasted on the parking lot shouting at people, looking for a fight. None of you would want to end up like that.
I sure would not want to end up that way.
The funny thing about this whole thing is that they are feeling the negative impact that gambling brings to them, but they still go ahead anyway and that is one thing I just cannot get to understand why and how they do this nonchalantly.

The only conclusion I can come up with is that they apparently allowed themselves to be led by their greed and emotions, until it finally got out of hand all they can do is to blame everyone for their predicament rather than blame themselves or probably transfer the aggression to others, which is one reason they find it hard most times to quit.

the first time the most influential on gambling addiction is the friend who is there. someone who first played gambling, and the next day would accept a call from a friend to play again. that's what I've experienced and it's so much fun. but when I accept defeat, it is very painful and that is why I started to leave gambling.
You will hardly find even a single gambler who is busy in gambling and that he is not addicted to this thing. Gambling is such a great addiction that it makes impossible for the gamblers to stop doing it no matter how much money they lose.

They keep on looking for the ways which can then help in having more money so that they can then use that money to gambler just for their own peace of mind.

I don't know if this can be called addiction but where I was watching the game of France vs Australia in a club of gamblers in my city, a few persons had bets of 5000 EUR for France and some even 10.000 EUR for it. I guess this is called addiction as I would never risk that amount on a single game no matter how sure it may look from outside. France had difficulty winning and those guys were quite nervous smashing glasses and screaming , only when France scored they calmed down.

With strong willpower and determination to redeem one's own self an addicted gambler can even quit gambling in a few days. Of course the iron will has to be there and the hatred towards gambling needs to be present.

Oxygen is essential for life. On the other hand gambling is an addiction or in other words oxygen is a necessity while gambling is an indulgence. Hence this is a poor comparison.

Gambling is not a disease. It is an addiction. Calling it a disease is an oversimplification of facts.

it is just funny how you reacted and quoted thise texts. I guess i have to agree, since disciplining yourself from gambling is hard to do i guess(although i am not really one), but comparing it to some other things that could cause addiction it seems for me that it is hard. Whether winning or losing makes it more addicting. As an example if you win big time, you will though you won easily and needs to win more, if you lose big time you will try to get back all your losses of course, in the end it is a matter of greed.

Hard to stop no matter what the outcome of gambling is something that is very common to see. And unfortunately, such behavior is formed by itself and even without us knowing it. It needs a strong intention so that gambling doesn't lead us to the wrong direction.

Just curious to read some addict or former addict stories and probably some of us like me will be glad to see how things actually did roll in for them during this period and I believe some other persons tending towards that path can also learn from it. Also, if you have a friend or relative you can speak for, it would be appreciated.

Personally, this is what I would like to know though.

1. How did you find yourself ending up to become an addict? What instigated it to the point that you just found yourself not being able to control the impulse any longer? What was the feeling like and during those period of being an addict, did you know and were you willing to pop out of it?

2. What were the steps you took or the steps you are taking to get out from it, and on the scale of 1 to 10, how can you rate how you are doing now?

3. For those who are out of it, do you still gamble or still wish you could? In the case where you are still gambling, how do you want to make sure what happened initially does not end up repeating itself.

4. Any other thing you feel you can add is welcome.
Well. I got addicted in gambling when i start playing with my friends and cousins at the casino everynight we all go to the casino to gain profit and expecting to win a lot of money. Until i end up bankrupt that i have used all of my saving in my bank accounts just to play gambling. Then me and my friends decided to stop playing gambling because it given us a bad habit. We stop playing by jist focusing on working on our jobs and working out at the gym for to keep ourselves busy and get away from gambling.

But when i turn out college i dont know things just changed when i focus on study today i am almost graduated from college and i didn't find my self looking for gambling ,maybe its about perseverance and dedication in life that makes us change
Good story bro. I like your story. Thousands of stories of gambling addiction in my local community. A person in my community aged about 70 years having lots of children lost everything in gambling. He was a laborer and has very small income but he was addicted of gambling. He tried his best to recover his lost money but never succeed and died leaving his family in debts.

Very nice topic mate! Glad someone could come up with something like this. Actually I have never been an addict as I have always learned self-control right from the onset in anything I want to do and always make sure a limit is set. However, I had a friend who really decided not to follow that path and his gambling addiction started by getting very lucky at first.

I can say he actually got lucky consistently for a month plus when he started gambling and winning a lot and then it all started. That is the funniest part, it will all just as you see yourself losing everything and the mindset of the winnings you had initially keeps coming back to tell you to keep persevering as you can get all you have lost back.

Now, he is so broke, his businesses are down, and he is seeing a shrink to help him out as I speak. It is a crazy story, I pity him a lot, I talked to him, but he would not listen and even sometimes started making me feel mine was becoming too much. I hope he ends up better though.

That's why I don't believe them when they say that it's hard to quit gambling for good because if someone really wanted a change he can do anything even beyond his limit. They say that it just takes 21 days to make a new habit so if you just continue pursuing your change then it will happen. Just have a good diversion then it'll be all good.

On the other hand, I'm happy that I didn't get to the point of addiction or better yet I'll be miserable.
Same here with your last statement. Actually, after reading some stories already, it is obvious how it must have been tough and extremely crazy to have gotten to that stage in the first place.

Addiction is one hard thing to combat and I know the only best way to not get addicted into anything is to either stay clear off that thing or make sure you are in control right from the onset and you do not end up giving up that control to your impulses. I can actually imagine how crazy it must have been.

I agree with you in this regard that by having a strong will power the person can do anything but in case of gambling, I think it will take more time than usual for the person who is addicted to it to quit gambling. This is because the person becomes much greedy in that duration when he didn’t thought to quit it and overcoming that greed is much difficult.

I play a lot of gambling in crypto and in real life but i'm not addict because meaning of any kinds of games for me even i risk is the knowledge that i can learn from that so i only study then if i already know or i experience really fun then i repeat that again in again unfortunately it's like an addict from other people,Moreover we need to play gambling for knowledge and fun so take some risk

It's good to play gambling when you already knows what is your limitations are. And it's good when you're finding a good relaxation. It's more have fun when you're enjoying but do not keep it for your own self and not treat gambling as your daily work. It's going to addiction when you are doing this as your daily habbit.

I started get addicted in gambling when my friends invited me to come at the casino to play just for fun, but it turned out i mostly play gambling to gained profit that is why i started to get addicted with it. I started noticing it when all of my savings are gone, then i started quitting gambling and start focusing working on my job and my family.
I am happy for you that at least you have noticed it. Many people even don’t want to come over it. They already know they are doing wrong and it is harming them. But still they become innocent and actually ignoring it forcefully. So I think if someone know it, he mustn’t be concealing himself from such harm and negativity. Better is to go against this game. Good luck.

A friend from work has a gambling problem and he banned himself from the Brick n Mortar casinos. The security guards at the entrance will be informed from the CCTV operators when he arrives at the entrance and then they will deny him entrance.

He lost almost everything, including his wife and kids and this was the turning point for him. He told me that he realized that he had a problem, when he took the food budget to go gambling and his wife and kids had no money for food. They left and he had to pay for a expensive divorce and he has to pay Alimony or he will go to jail.

He has stopped completely and is working on resolving the broken bridges with his ex-wife and kids.  Sad

Hmm. Once you understand there is a great chance of losing, the more you will be able to control the decisions you make. Nice one, even though I did a bit of rephrasing. The thing is a lot of people usually do not see the fact that relying too much on the outcome of gambling being positive is actually a very huge problem on its own and that can mar the person completely.

So it is better not to get too overwhelmed with winnings or emotional about losing and as long as you know it is not something you should be too attached to, you will know how to manage yourself.
