Like the title says, i almost lost my regular job as a software developer today when my boss reviewed my work. The job has been able to economically provide a comfortable life for me and losing it would really be a big hit to my income. I almost lost it because i spent so much time learning about everything crypto (mining, trading, bounties, etc.).

Has anyone else experienced this? I just feel pretty lucky I was given another chance and want to remind other people that having a regular job is much better than relying on the volatility of cryptocurrencies. Make sure you prioritize your work!

I was a student back then when I was still learning more about bitcoin.I remembered that I actually got lazy doing homeworks because I'm too busy posting and my mind will be block because it is already exhausted from posting. I think this should also be a lesson. Make sure you prioritize your studies

p.s. for students only

BIG WINNER!

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

It has never happened to me and I doubt it will. I am pretty good at managing my time and I always find time for everything that I want.

Each person sets his own priorities. Personally, I have a different situation, and I have never regretted that I began to study everything about crypto-currencies, bounty campaigns, etc., as this provides additional income with the opportunity to leave my job and earn money only with the help of crypto currency.

I almost quit my job, I thought bitcoin will continue to give me earnings to support my daily expenses. But honestly the volatility of cryptocurrencies is hard to rely on.

Specially nowadays that the progress of bitcoin has slowed down in terms of expanding market use. Less business establisments/ stores have been accepting bitcoin recently and it's function is less used that may eventually lead to bitcoin's downfall.

Wow! I am amazed by you bro because not  all of crypto currency lovers that are working have the same point of view like you. Some wanted to leave their job to commit their time fully in crypto currency, although they knew it is risky but because of having faith that it has a great opportunity to earn big in just a short period of time they are neglecting the possible risk.
Being full time is good but leaving your status unstable will harden the situation.

Yes, don't ever quit your job for Cryptos. We are not sure if it will be stable, good to secure ourselves with stable job. Especially when you are not so knowledgeable in crypto world, you might be lose without any back-up if that will happen. It is better to check your status on how much you know about what you are trying to enter. This was a hard decision including your loyalty to a company.

It is good that you keep your job because nowadays a lot of coins start to fall its price that is why it is very hard to earn huge profits in cryptocurrency. It is better to keep your job while using bitcoin for you to have more better income.

It's not called crypto... it's called addiction. Like all addictions, they sap the strength from you, taking away the focus necessary from your job, your family, your studies, your finances. I'm glad you realised that, and glad you kept your job. Hopefully you've learnt your lesson not to give your whole life to Bitcoin. It's great to have a belief system, and great that Bitcoin can provide so much opportunity, but you know what? There's everything else to live for. Go outside, smell some coffee, talk to people. Your crypto will probably benefit from paying attention to all other aspects of life. I know it has for me, but I'm old so maybe I had to learn all my lessons from other addictions;)

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I think it is a common phenomenon among crypto geeks...  Grin Besides me, I also know a bunch of guys with the same issue. I would say try not to lose your job, do good time management, and if you are really interested in crypto, lets try to find a way to make a permanent living from it.

Many people has already experienced it too for sure so you should be more careful next time since relying on bitcoin or other crypto alone will not be advisable for anyone considering the risks it contains whenever you are working on it. Give importance to your regular job and work hard too with your investment in crypto to gain more money.

I hope you learned your lesson bro! You can always do your research and your bounties at home or in your spare time, its unfair if you do it while you are paid by your boss and there you are doing something else. I know someone who put all his time in crypto before while he was working but he already resigned and focused in crypto its just a matter of choice if you think having a day job is way better than focusing in crypto then that's you.

E? I think you can only do this if you have silver spoon on your mouth tho! Anyways with that rank you can really make a fortune now. ^_^

For the OP, I hope you learned a lesson. If you really like your job, don't let the sideline crypto ruin it. Just as nothing is forever in this world, so is crypto and your job.

Learn to prioritize what will help you more from now on. ^_^

I agree to that and that is the best strategy that you can do in order to avoid getting affected in your work but at the same tiem having a good progress in studying and learning the cryptocurrency. Although I'm a software developer myself, but its really hard to juggle your time being a developer and heavily evolving yourself in crypto business

Not only my regular job are being affected when I getting involved this kind source of income and also my time for my family are affected too because when I spend my time fully to cryptocurrency  when I'm at day off of my work and I don't have time for my kids and wife. Learning more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency when you have finished your work for the day is fine. But doing it instead of doing your job is another thing, thank your boss for giving you a second chance and having a steady income is still really needed in my opinion

OP could take this the other way round, if you invested some proceeds from the work into crypto over the last few years you would have had a much better return then investing the work time and risking the income ?
The ideal would be each person does best in their own specialised job, the value is then transmitted and they invest into the best growth they recognise.    Those already expert in crypto would then use your value to produce the growth better then you can redirecting your work time to try and catch up with this subject.

You could do both of course but its better to use spare time for a subject you know little about to start off with.  Sounds like a good employer to allow you to learn the lesson Smiley

I agree, don't you ever quit in your job just because of crypto because crypto is too risky and we all not sure about the future of crypto, it's not because you earn a lot means that you need to quit in your job, you can do trading or something invest your money in crypto while having job.

Having crypto is an advantage but losing your job is a very big loss. Proper time management is important in every aspect of our lives because through it, we would learn how to prioritize the important things that matters to us. You should still need a permanent job because you'll never know until when will crypto will stay.

It all depends on the degree of your involvement.
Personally I manage to do my regular job and learn about crypto in my free time.
What is more, I plan to quit my current job and switch fully to crypto market because even despite its volatility it offers prospects for bigger money than I am now earning.
