I had some more time today and tracked it down even further, actually its only the barrier=0 mount option that affects this huge slowness/speedup, I have changed my mount options back to the dafault data=ordered again (undid my changes using tune2fs and removing the boot parameter) and the only mount option remaining that makes the difference between 1 minute and 1 second is barrier=0

Jim, what autosave delay are you using? I wonder if the issue is the mmapped chain file or the wallet.

Hi Mike,

The wallets are marked as dirty and then there is a background task running every 90 seconds to save the wallet. (I think it was 120 seconds on earlier versions).,

It might also be that I overwrite all the files with nonsense data byte by byte before deleting them.

Hi,

I forgot create backup of my wallets before reinstalling system.
What files do I need to recover, and where they need to be placed?

Thanks

I was about to bail on Multibit because of some issues, but been using this new version 0.5.16 for a few weeks now and it hasn't given me any problems that past version has.  So I'm sticking with it and will donate some more money if it keeps working for me in the future. Actually will go send a few mBTC right now..

Does MultiBit also "suffer" from the Transaction Malleability issue, and the ddos troubles that it has been causing during the past few days?

And if yes: I just noticed the core Bitqoin-Qt developers have a fix ready, can and will something similar also be applied to MultiBit?

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Good to hear that you've seen an improvement in reliability moving to 0.5.16. Thanks for any donations, which are always welcome.

MultiBit uses bitcoinj which tracks whether transaction outputs are unspent are not. This is at a lower level than 'marking' transactions using the transaction id (which is the problem Mt Gox experienced).

We've been discussing transaction malleability on the bitcoinj mailing list and have not found an attack that people can perform using this technique.

With the 1Enjoy and 1Soshi spam the client does show them (as unconfirmed tx) which is a bit annoying but everything works correctly.

I like Multibit, well done!  Smiley

I have two suggestions:

- After sending a transaction, the input mask should be empty or there should be a button to clean up the mask

- For Europeans the Swiss, it is very strange to enter the amount with comma (,) as decimal separator. We are used to the decimal point (.) It would be good if you could include this to the settings and may be ask before the installation. I know that the converted amount is shown next to the input field, but this typo could easily happen if you're careless and then you send way to much.

Regards

Its correctly using comma as decimal separator in Europe since this is how it is done in Europe. If you switch language to English in settings it will use "." instead.

Maybe it should completely refuse to enter a 1000s separator at all (no matter what localization) to avoid problems if a European user has spent 8 hours programming (where . is the decimal separator) and then uses a localized wallet again (while still having the . in his muscle memory, although now its suddenly interpreted as the 1000s separator again).

You're right. As usual, Switzerland is going it's own way in Europe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:DecimalSeparator.svg).

Nevertheless, there is a risk of making a mistake.

Hi guys, im hoping that you can help my friend and I with our problem.

My friend called me up tonight and was having some trouble with multibit, he has 7.5 btc in one of his 3 wallets on multibit, and yesterday tried to send .5 btc to coinbase.  Something happened to the transaction and when I got there today, the wallet only said seen by 1 peer next to his transaction, and it wasn't on coinbase.  So we refreshed the block chain and now the .5 is not showing up in the wallet at all, but at blockchain.info, it says that he has 7.5 btc in his wallet. Could someone post detailed steps on how to fix this so that I do not accidently mess up his account?

I think the way to do this would be to export his private key and then import it, but can I just import it back into the wallet that is messed up?  I tested this with one of his other wallets in multibit that had .5 btc in it.  I exported his private key, then imported it into a new wallet that I created in multibit, but the .5 btc shows up in both wallets?  Which one is correct and how do I zero out the one that has nothing in it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

On blockchain.info and blockexplorer, my address: 1JPEobzLgKo5EKEfDVN8aJ61Pdryse6ccf got coins, but I don't know why they were sent there. The other problem is they do not show up in multibit even after resetting many times. Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

I really hope the next version of MultiBit will no longer use MtGox rates for USD conversion. It's very misleading.

Still its like multibit is dead no changes in the last months
Even though the client suffer from weird blockchain loading problems
I have to reload the blockchain many times, to see what i have received or what is another fake pay
The same goes for the competition
