Its purpose is to be a coin that is used for everyday payments in stores or/and between friends.
You simple "load" your NFC card (in your phone, your hand or any NFC chip att all) with the amount you wish to shop with. Then you can easily pay with the "loaded" coins in store.

Store owners use a simple NFC reader and a software connected to their own wallet that receives the coins.
No need for pincodes or scanning QR codes, just swipe your NFC card over the reader (or swipe two phones together to transfer the coins)
