We have always wondered what 'true' decentralisation means. Human beings have from the beginning at different points in time been governed by something or the other. Let's look at the divisions and how we have accepted 'Centralisation' as the cornerstone of our thinking patterns that it has deeply etched itself into our system.
Lets look at 3 different stages or points in life of culture.
Birth:
We are constantly chided by our parents on what to do, what not to do, whats right and whats wrong. We cannot at birth selectively choose which race, tribe, religious faction, tradition and so on we are born into. We straight go into acceptance of things around us. For everything we have a 'role model' imprint in our minds. So basically we 'listen' to our parents or we have 'consequences' whether physical or emotional or both. This is the beginning of a hierarchal form of society. Our parents knowingly or unknowingly introduce us to division and whats 'ideal' for us and divide through their conversations.
School:
There are rules, more rules and punishment. There are course work dumped on us by the teachers and the principal. Every thing seems to have an order thats rather thrust on us. Theres grading, there are scholarships, selections and what not. Everything points to a particular system that has been put into place by someone before and again someone before that and so on.
On Religion or Cultural Aspects:
There are the toughest rules here. We are taught what to believe and the fear of a 'God' put on us. We aimlessly follow them till we come of a certain age of adolescence where we go the other way for a while or deep dive worse than the people who introduced God to us. Its a good age to decipher whats happening around us. We have traditions 'to be followed'. No questions asked.
Everything is centralised a board for the school, a board at companies, a CEO and a Manager. Here's the point. Look around you. Someone governs the other.
The World has gotten you to believe that without a centralised authority - nothing works. It has become very hard for us to move away from that 'authoritarian' outlook to that of shared responsibility. Governance by authorities has become the order of the day. So dependent are we that we are unable to add direction to the very same governance that affects us. This has led to Social evils and Corruption.
Let's move to the bigger things all over whether it comes to Food Safety, Food Logistics, Finances etc., decentralised and localised options. Each person in an ecosystem knows better when collective decisions and responsibility is easily understood. Somebody somewhere far away cannot decide whats best for that smaller ecosystem. Each ecosystem has to be governed within itself. Blanket decisions are not the solution. With decentralisation, comes responsibility and not blame. There is ownership.
It's high time that man evolves within his space with shared responsibilities to nurture the all Markets. It means equal opportunity for people to have a right to know what happens around him, why it happens, deriving the best solution from within that smaller society, community, family or whatever you call it.
