They absolutely should not be selling more units until they work. Its super shady. And the fact is that people who bought back in June got zero use out of their unit before it went public in January, the next year. That is cause for complaint. Its just wrong.

they should definitely redo their website to include the "no gpu acceleration miner currently available." and redo their boost estimates as its been a while (maybe im wrong). but like eth is going progpow so the main reason most would of wanted the 101 will be gone. sure etc might stay on ethhash maybe but its main use case will be gone by the time anyone gets any serious returns on them unless the 101 can do well in other stuff.

i spent about a grand: couple 215+, a 101, a nest2g and nest4x. and it now seemed i backed the wrong horse. oh well, my bad. it was a risk that seemed reasonable even "building in" some arbitrary delay. the real delay exceeded my guess by a lot though.

im not saying these things are a write off, they may come through yet. unknown. but i sure wont buy anymore till the software is proven.

not on anything but 1 coin at unimpressive numbers.

no GPU boosting like was promised.

by the time GPU boosting comes out, ETH will probably have switched to ProgPOW for the death blow of these things.

The main reason to buy these was for gpu boosting, so gpu miners could compete with fpga for a little bit longer.  Sure they can standalone mine too, but that wasn't the original purpose.  If you're going to standalone mine you should have just sold off your gpus and used that money to buy a real fpga.

Luckily I only bought one of these Acorns.... What a disaster this has become.  And they are still selling these on Amazon as a working product.  I'm just hoping that the miner is released or I can get a refund before SQRL goes belly up..

Lol, my trust rating was halved in the last day or two once I started to complain about "Sqrl labs". After years of going up Im now going down by the day. Strange behavior on bitcointalk for sure. Pay to play?

Nah, I think I do but no names will be named.

Its just funny that I get dropped for the first time by someone/multiples who had nothing to do with this. "This" being my defense of Sqrl labs customers.

I was dropped by someone/somepeople for commenting on this problem though. For sure. Crypto is becoming more corrupt than ever. And thats hard to do.

Maybe a default trust member that gave you trust is now removed from the list? been changes to the default trust list

It seems like releasing a keccak-only miner/bitstream would be relatively easy, since acorn-like devices were originally designed to perform the opening and closing keccak calculations for eth anyway.

Use a chached version to see who had previously given you trust and the reason, I haven't ever had trust dropped and I have said a lot of shit. I don't think SQRL has the influence to push almost anyone on the DT list. Maybe someone like OG is cleaning up old positives?

Or someone that had given him trust was dropped from the default list.

Thanks for the link.

BTW, Momero hash has recwntly popped up so is there a secret bitstream?

Yeah a ton of people were dropped from the default list and others added, mine would have gone down as well except some new DT users replaced those that were dropped giving me a net increase in trust.

I very rarely do any business that I need to worry about the trust here but keeping it green is important. I may PM some guys that never left me feedback and have that oversight corrected. Nice to see the riffraff off DT1, seeing good people with red was really a smear on the face of this forum.

As a pushback on the debbie downers, here are some reasons to be optimistic:

SQRL

1)  I spent a chunk of change on their stuff. I'm really impressed with the build quality/engineering of the circuit boards. Definitely superior to BITMAIN. If their intent was to be a scam operation there was no need to spend extra on a build/component quality which also has a schedule and cost penalty (how many times have we seen a cheesy circuit board photograph from the latest scam power point miner?). I think SQRL are also in the same boat in that they have a stack of cards that they would also like to use and therefore motivated. Like many things in crypto, all is forgiven when stuff starts to work.

Other stuff

2) A positive trend is the number of coins changing over to anti-ASIC GPU friendly new algorithms.

3) The fact that ASIC dev's are openly whining about crypto coin dev's fencing them out.

4) Some of us have an advantage in that a large fraction of mining equipment is paid off. Lower coin values are a barrier to entry, because of a worse ROI situation. There is a sweet spot where the old timers can make money with there paid down equipment but newbies can't.

On a speculative note, I'm wondering if the BTC situation is similar to the trajectory of the PC. IBM was the first mover and they were kings for about 18 month. They wiped out the near clones (TI, televideo, DEC et al) and then compaq came on the scene and things were never the same. Does the current price of BTC reflect a decay of it's first mover advantage? All other coin crypto has an advantage over BTC, in that they have no governor on their rate of innovation.

well gpuhoarder released some info yesterday on discord along with a screenshot of an early build (one that was solo mining).

1st version for public consumption will likely be very limited.. linux version may run better as opposed to the windows version. amd cards are talked to direct, nvidia goes through cpu. things will change though as it is refined.

thats just what i recall, take with much salt.

time frame was "near future" iirc.

hit up fpga discord for the real info.

Near Future.TM

Only planning to use these either standalone (CLE-215+) or to boost amd (CLE-101).  Will the 1st version boost monero and eth, just eth, just monero, something else?  What will it standalone mine, lyra, keccak, etc.?

From my understanding of last week, Linux was working, windows wasn't there yet, one gpu was working great, multiple needed more work (I don't know if that was Nvidia or AMD) and they were worried about pushing this now and people jumping to conclusions and freaking out if they released a beta software.

I'll volunteer to beta test on Windows.

Hello, and great work on your unique project!

Will any drivers or programs be required for this device to be recognized on PiMP OS (based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) ? If so, please describe what we will need to do. We want to make sure that we can support your Acorn devices with PiMP OS. If you have the capability to test it, we would be most appreciative!

Also, a common question we get is whether it is cost-effective to buy an Acorn or another GPU for the rig. What's the best "TLDR simple answer" in your opinion? Thanks!
