Trying to avoid buying from people who take months to get the equipment out.
If you could share good experiences I'd appreciate it!

There are a couple of vendors that ship within 48 hours of your order, Antminer is one of them.  Check the hardware subforum for the post.  BFL claims immediate shipment but they don't ship out the door for at least 96 hours after the order.

Be advised that you will be losing $ in the conversion of $ & BTC to mining equipment as you will come out ahead by just buying coins (esp at current prices) - mine only to suppport the network or as a enjoyable hobby.

people buy pre-orders for a reason; to buy the top-end mining machines that will actually be worth something for a while.  antminer s1 is $1700 on amazon for 180 g/h.  cointerra IV miner( now sold out) is $6,000 for 2,000 g/h.  you're paying about 3 times the price but get more than 10 times the hashing power.  even with the rising mining difficulty, the higher end machines will pay for themselves and keep making decent money for a long time.  i plan on ordering the prospero x-3 from black arrow even though it is uncertain if they will deliver anywhere near on time.  cointerra is a solid company but they are sold out.

If you ever get one.  Is there any proof yet that Cointerra has shipped out any units? From what I can see people are still waiting for their December pre orders.

furyminers?

Red Fury Miners that you can plug into a usb port to mine for coin.  I believe it's only for SHA-256 coins.

They hash at around 2.2 to 2.7 gh/s and do not use up very much power, 2.5 watts each.  Best way to use them is with a powered USB hub.

I recently bought and received an AntMiner S1 from Bitmain.  Easy to overclock to 200 GH/s (which draws 400W). Quick shipping, great unit.

Run a Bitcoin node, support the network.

Bitmain is the way to go, they had a slowdown during Chinese new year, but things are back in operation now. Beware all the hardware for sale on the forums, lots of scams and group buy scams

I've sold 9 of my 10 Antminers to just buy the coins and trade them.  Is safer and no depreciation of equipment.

WTCR.ca will always be a very reliable source for mining equipment, mostly ASICMINER Block Erupter hardware.  We (I work there) offer quick delivery through Canada Post or UPS, check out our website.

Once the next generation of Block Erupter hardware arrives, we will have much more to offer (right now it's a bit dry since they stopped shipping new products).

Is you want instant delivery go for cloud mining services.
No stuff to install, and hashing starts instantly !

http://scrypt.cc?ref=baars

Scrypt hashes but payments in bitcoins every 10mins, so no trading to do.

We've just entered the mining hardware space. You can view the category here.

All but the 1TH/s are in stock and will ship within 72 hours of payment. We can ship under 48hours if you are happy with a shorter test period for the miner.

The 1TH/s will arrive in our facility on the 18th to be dispatched on the 21st. We are very lucky to have a stable supply for these machines and large orders are welcomed.

My advice is to do both...

Buy BTC when the price dips (bad market news, etc)
Buy mining equipment under $4 a gh/s

Oh make no mistake, mining is a highly addictive habit.

You could run this poll:
- when you wake in the morning what is your first activity after checking your mined balance...
- when your miner ceases being profitable, will you try to find reasons to keep it running
- are you using an Antminer S1 to heat the nursery your baby is sleeping in

Finally
- if your house was on fire, and you could run back into the flames and save one thing...
