How long do bitcoin mixers usually take?

I sent a few mBTC to blender.io . The sent transaction has confirmed but I haven't received anything back from them. It's been nine hours. Is that normal?

Are there faster bitcoin mixers than this?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Unless you specifically set a delay (a few mixers have this feature), it should be from instantly to up to something like 5 minutes.

I NEVER heard about this website and can't find anything about it (no ANN thread, no article or post about it). Where did you find it? If it's taking that long, I'm pretty sure it must be a scam.

Edit: how much did you sent? did you set any delay?

I saw it on a forum somewhere. The interface looks as good as any other and I picked it because it appeared very simple to use. It does have a letter of guarantee etc.

Sounds like 9 hours is not usual :-(

Certainly not, if you set no delay.

I've never heard of this site either, and a quick Google search reveals nothing about them -- no discussion, reviews, announcement threads. I'm assuming it's a scam. I'm glad it was just a few mBTC.

Chipmixer is reliable and trusted. I've also read positive things about Bitcoin Blender, although I don't think they have nearly the same volume, which is important for a mixer.

Is there a good spot to check for scam warnings / reviews for mixers and similar services?

I wrote blender.io a message but I guess I will try somewhere else in meantime

thanks all

To see which mixers do work: 2018 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites

There are a few reviews in some websites like DeepDotWeb but I wouldn't trust them as:
1. They may be biased (paid to promote an article, which is why I don't trust news websites).
2. They once put a fake ChipMixer phising url "by mistake" in one of his articles.

How worthwhile would it really be to set up a scam mixer? Are there really a lot of them?

Nobody is going to risk mixing a big bunch of coins on their first go.

And if they don't get their coins back they are mostly likely going to post scam warnings.

So I'm skeptical about how much money a scam mixer is really going to earn. Meanwhile you have to set up a decent looking GUI and domain etc.

Also if I understand correctly chipmixer operates as "pay what you like", however you must pay something and the smallest you can pay is 1mBTC. So to mix 4mBTC the user will receive 3mBTC in return.

It would be nice to send off a tiny amount just to check all these mixers out. But doesn't seem possible anywhere.

@#$&$&T@# i just read the fine print at blender.io

"Please be warned that the minimum amount for mixing is 0,01 BTC. Smaller amounts are considered as donations."

I feel like a mixer victim right here. Don't know why i chose the name of "robber" lol, probably would make more sense to call myself "robbed".

users need be wary of these underhand tactics

I think they do this because the transaction cost <Miners Fee> to do this, would quickly absorb all their profits with smaller transactions. I have not seen this being done with other mixer services and I think this is a bit unethical. They should give a popup message, warning the users when the amount is smaller than 0.01 BTC and asking them if this is a donation and then they must confirm that.

Many people send small test transactions before they use these services and they will all be victims of this. <Who actually read the small print?>

Totally agree. Plus it's very convenient to call it a donation, I'm sure the victims are calling it something else entirely.

In this untrustworthy crypto world you should always double/triple check where you send your money to.
Where did you found this mixer, btw.

OMG, typical fuckers trying to get away with it... this should be a good lesson, man.

The minimum is 1mBTC. It was only increased temporarily while the Bitcoin fees were high.

As other have said, maybe take this as a lesson for the future. Mixers are very hard to monitor and you are essentially trusting a trustless third party with your funds--all of this provides an ideal environment for scammers--not to mention there are many fake versions of these sites popping up. If you are going to use one make sure you research the site thoroughly beforehand.
