There are 3 things for me that changed our lives: the internet, our smartphones and very recently, VR. I think these three makes a perfect combination. The use of the internet allowed us to do anything, the smartphone allows us to reach out to someone no matter where they are, and the use of virtual reality provides an escape.

New technologies like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and blockchain are changing civilization as we know it. In another generation, we'll scarcely recognize the world.

I think in the future air-travel will be obsoleted when we have a globe spanning network of super fast highways that you can just drive onto and your car will be carried on a machine which moves near the speed of sound. Elon Musk thinks we need a tube of near vacuum for it, but I don't think that idea is going to work out, and besides a high energy version of the maglev would work anyway... just need to keep your windows closed!

The presence of true technology is made to help human life. But in reality, technology has changed the way people live. This is the proof:

- A decade ago, people who were dating usually conveyed seduction directly. Now, delivered using an instant messaging application.

- In the past, people queueding to withdraw or transfer money. Now enough to use a computer to do all banking transactions.

- In the past we often talked with friends directly. Now all use the messaging application.

- In the past, all photos were printed and framed. Now everything is always included in the computer and displayed on computer or smartphone wallpapers.

The tech that changed the world around us goes back in time more than 30 years...

1. The Plow
Prior to the plow, humans were subsistence farmers or hunter/gatherers. Their lives were devoted solely to finding enough food to survive from one season to the next. Growing food added some stability to life, but doing it by hand was labor intensive and took a long time. The plow changed all that.
Plows made the work easier and faster. Improvements in the plow's design made farming so efficient that people could harvest far more food than they needed to survive. They could trade the surplus for goods or services. And if you could get food by trading, then you could devote your day-to-day existence to something other than growing food, such as producing the goods and services that were suddenly in demand.

2. Wheel
Another ancient invention. The oldest wheel and axle mechanism we've found was near Ljubljana, Slovenia, and dates to roughly 3100 B.C.

3. Printing Press
The printing press allowed enormous quantities of information to be recorded and spread throughout the world.

4. Refrigeration
The ability to keep food cold for prolonged periods (and even during shipping, once refrigerated trucks were developed) drastically changed the food production industry and the eating habits of people around the world.

5. Communications
These developments in communications technology effectively shrank the world. In the span of about 120 years, we went from a world where it might take weeks to hear news from across the country to one where we can watch events occurring on the other side of the globe as they happen.

6. Steam Engine
While the steam engine has been eclipsed by electric and internal combustion engines in the areas of transport and factory power, they're still incredibly important. Most power plants in the world actually generate electricity using steam turbines, whether the steam is heated by burning coal, natural gas or a nuclear reactor.

7. Automobile
The automobile's effect on commerce, society and culture is hard to overestimate.

8. Lightbulb
Infrastructure that was built to provide electricity to every home and business changed the world.

9. Computer

10. Internet

Technology changes our lives a lot. Thanks to the technology we do less but harvest more.
But technology also carries its own risk. It is best not to overuse technology in life.

VR has never lived up to it's promise.

VR was only in the gaming area for a long time. But as a technology, it's making strides. It is now possible to train people who need training for dangerous occupations like firefighting and flying airplanes with minimal risk and danger.  It is a cost-effective and non-wasteful and extremely safe method of training. It can calm people with health issues, particularly elderly people who suffer from dementia. It can educate us as to how a person with dementia feels. The potential of this technology is only beginning to be understood maybe two or three decades after it appeared. Along with blockchain and its promise of transparency, VR is going to make so much possible in the future.

Technology and life are forever intertwined, in my opinion. I cannot even imagine going offline for a day. Can you? They say necessity is the mother of invention and I actually believe that. All these technologies are designed to make our lives better. Whether it’s AI, blockchain or virtual reality, we should rest assured these technologies will be indispensable features of our lives. Do the concepts of digital currencies and immersive virtual experiences excite you?

In this century, the most influential of all technologies that change the way live, socialize and do business is Internet. Without the Internet, there won't be smart devices, social networks, e-commerce and even bitcoin and blockchain technology

I absolutely agree! Virtual and augmented realities are going to be huge. Why do you think Apple is exploring AR glasses now? And why did Facebook come out with Oculus? These influential tech companies know these techs' potential. And they can be life changing, especially when these VR and AR realities can produce more immersive experiences.

Technologies that changes our lives?

The pace of technology has accelerated to such a degree that the degree of change on the horizon is now considerable. Technology has always changed the lives of the people or community in which the developments took place and by default, it changed the lives of people everywhere as knowledge of technology spread. Technology is about to create a revolution in human existence. I wonder does anyone realize that with all the new technologies coming about, a project is in the making which aims to create for mankind a fully-fledged life in the digital space. I life which will go on forever and the problems of the yesteryear world will rest in pace. Has anyone here heard of the Virternity project? Their website is recently opened and a qucik google search will get the address for you. Life is about to change forever.
