Read The Hyperinflation Survival guide (warning, PDF).

It is about conducting business in a hyperinflationary country, mostly using lessons learned from Argentina that were very fresh at the time it was written.

Pretty good experience with Second Life Linden Dollars. We used it to run in-world businesses, invest in banks and finance companies, and ever started an in-world business stock exchange. I used the proceeds from that "play money" to pay for my $750 imported smartphone (back before iPhones, when no one knew what a smartphone was), and it was a great way to learn about economics, finance, and currency exchanges. Sadly, Second Life operators banned all finance type businesses in their game, which destroyed the in-world economy, and arguably has hurt their business, but it was a great learning experience, and is the reason why I instantly "got" Bitcoin and invested in it. No doubt the Bitcoin experience has taught a lot of other people about finance, economics, and money, just as Linden Dollars taught those involved with SecondLife's currency.
