As far as I understand, all of these transactions reduce the merit score of several members who have recently been merited by stingers.

It seems that the "de-merit" transactions have been introduced on the forum.

I’ve just updated the Merit Dashboard to make it easier to find all these negative value TXs (or whatever TX value one wants to find). What I’ve done is create a Merit slider filter on the TXs Tab, that allows us to filter TXs within a specific range of merit value.

For example, in order to see all negative TXs we can filter the TXs as follows:


Since the associated User Id in the merit.txt file is 0 ( non-existent user), we cannot jump from the Dashboard to the From User Profile (but it is named as “(Bitcointalk forum)” for visual identification).

Last reverted sMerit TXs I recall were related to an abuse made on a hacked account. On that occasion, the original positive TXs were deleted. The new approach (positive TX and later Negative counter TX) is better for traceability.

Nice update.

As far as I understand, a transaction with a negative merit value does not delete/revert the previous transaction with a positive merit value, but simply reduces the current merit score of the addressed member. In other words, such a transaction literally destroys the earned merits.

I am curious whether a transaction with a negative merit value reduces the current sMerit score of the addressed member or not. Since a user who received 2 merits gains 1 sMerit, he/she can immediately send the earned sMerits to another user.
