What is the rationale behind having users who have not traded off their MNC (ERC20) to lose their tokens?

How about just disabling trading, but then allow them to withdraw their tokens?

Agree and this is a good idea you suggested.  A week is hardly enough time and also by not disabling trading and allowing token withdrawal instead, just straight feels like money grab.
