some altcoin who has indeed proven to be able to survive is the ethereum, Neo, Ripple and also Dash. For EOS because it was new, though much good news, but not yet proven to be able to survive.
no one can predict any coin in crypto currency because we know it has become the nature of crypto currencies and in my opinion the development of crypto currencies depends on the investor itself

hey all, new to this forum, was wondering which alts do people think will survive? Which ones will gain traction when this crypto winter ends? Which ones have a use that will be taken up by the mainstream? Thanks

BitBay (BAY) will easily survive. It has been around for 5 years now, and is not going anywhere.

They're about to release a new democratic feature that reduces volatility. That, in combo with their fully functional decentralized marketplace will gain some serious traction here in 2019.
