I think yes, discord has a lot of users and become a heavy competitor telegram, some of the ICO project usually use Discrod as their discussion place.
so in my opinion to see the development of the project you can join their discord

so far I am not comfortable to use discord, still find it impractical to use. So far also I see just a few of bounty to use discord as the tools for social media campaign since still not many people to use it so I think also still not efficient so far for social/community purpose.
