is it possible to point multiple miners to a single wallet?

And if so has anyone done it with ubuntu on azure?
Yes you can. You set your rpcuser, rpcpassword, rpcallowip, server=1, rpcport (if you want) in your riecoin.conf and then point your miners to the ip address of your wallet.

I tried that but it can't connect, I'm thinking the rpc port isn't open externally as I can ssh from the box but not connect with the miner

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

So those who could solo mine at launch get rewarded 0, while everyone can prep their botnets and aws farms for block 1152, at which point solo mining will become fruitless.  What fun times.

Who cares, would happen regardless, it takes less than 2 mins to setup an aws farm. Don't mine it then if you're that upset.

At least this way everyone has an opportunity to get things setup

hey guys you can't be serious and whine for not having your exe files. Mining and being linux illterate does not make sense. You probbably do have 12 toolbars and plugins in your web browser with three trojans and a keylogger and you consider installing some more exe file which you don't have any idea how it looks alike ? well  see you then.

Yeah, the problem with your logic is that the majority of users run Windows and don't have time to learn new stuff.
