I think it affect especially gambling system in cryptocurrency which the world cup is a great advertising strategy to gain more investors in bitcoin so the value will increase.

The world cup 2018 allows to people to buy their tickets by using bitcoins. and there are people who is trying to gamble their bitcoins to choose who will gonna win this game. It's like they are also promoting bitcoins by purchasing the tickets.

Bitcoin gambling activities will surely increase but it won't be a huge factor to the price movements.

It's a bear market, people cling to everything that could give them some hope for a price rise.

Bc football don't have anything related to crypto or bitcoin value. Almost countries accept gamble, betting are legal. Only some countries don't accept it but people still can bet in the darkness without crypto.
And don't have any big name accept crypto as payment option

i agree to some comments here that yes it has effect on bitcoins and alternative coins in general as there are some platforms and start ups for online betting using bitcoins or altcoins existed, for example wagerr platform in waves blockchain

I think I have saw some news before regarding the hotels in Russia that are allowing their customers who are travelling to Russia to watch the world cup to pay for their booking of rooms via bitcoin, but I don't think this will trigger any huge effect on the crypto-currencies trading market.

Actually it does affect since there are cryptocurrency projects offer betting on fifa world cup. I believe astorgame was one of the project who develop platform in sports betting, casino and other betting. I do not know also if the platform is ready but to think of it world cup football could affect cryptocurrency because some platforms are eyeing on this to include on their platforms.

Why in the world would the World cup affect Bitcoin or any crypto or fiat currency? The only thing I could see happening in the crypto market would be that Bitcoin is probably being used more on betting sites, but that doesn't really affect the price, other than that I don't see a connection.

I don't think there can a single connection between bitcoin and fifa world cup there will be one day on future when we start to see crypto commercials and crypto advertising on stadium's. It's not cheap to advertise company on world cup, or to be one of official sponsors, some crypto company or some coin will start to invest money in that sector eventually.
Now world cup is for people to watch football and bet on it, big money is in that but fiat money. Sooner crypto will get into it.

There is a indirect connection  between Bitcoin and World Cup. People are betting and the most convenient method of payment to the site even if it is having fiat is cryptocurrency. I xan say this because many of my friends have started enquiring about Bitcoin and how to use it.

World cup 2018 has been running for 2 days but bitcoin price just does not increase and even continue to follow the market trend that is experiencing bearish. even if there is a slight effect for a crypto market, it is just an "after" effect. The "actual" effect has been passed a long time ago (at least 6 or more months ago). Remember pals, this event is held every 4 years with the exact plan date, WC needs a huge preparation.

Football has nothing to do with bitcoin unless payments during World Cup 2018 are made using BTC.
If this happened we could predict the rapid grow of bitcoin price as the world football championship could be a great advertising space to promote cryptocurrencies.
