Still a long way to go but this win surly means a lot for us. We really can expect a title this years. It was a long wait and I hope it does not take much long anymore.

And on that note, I really hope one of the other leagues sees a new winner. Dortmund, for always fighting the good fight, though Monchengladbach are taking high press to another level haha. Napoli for showing that Italy doesn't always have to play boring (but so sad to see what's happening with them now, a bad owner is going to take down everything they built in 3 seasons). And Atletico for trying to break the duopoly.

Of course I want Liverpool to win as quickly as possible, so 9 points I want it to become 12 and 15 as the weeks go by.

Does a point gap mean we have it easy? Has anyone forgot how we fought tooth and nail to win against Blades, Spurs, Foxes, Blues? But yeah, we want to make our own records too and this is a team at its peak. Let's enjoy it!

Edit:  It's prolly John W. Henry's (who was also a known trend trader) doing too.  He was known in trying to get the Money Ball guy to work in his baseball team the Boston Red Sox.

I really do not have much idea about other leagues and do not follow them much except Barcelona in LaLiga. But see a new winner instead of seeing the same winning team every time is exciting. How if the winner is the team you support then I do not see any problem 🤣

I think the biggest challenge we had was to face City and winning the last match against them surely gives us a place where any other team will think twice before facing us. There are still a lot of matches left in including the away match against City and the home match against Chelsea.
Chelsea can be one of the team who has a good chance to have this year's race and they are doing well so far.

Yep, same here, I'm about a handful more years older than you, but I only heard about Liverpool late in my life (1997/98), when I met young Gerrard, Carra et al as England reps. Those days the only games you could catch on TV was FA cup finals, but by the time I was able to catch games on screens at some shops, I was in time to see 2001's haul of five.

I endured not only the painful Gerrard slip, but the disappointing second place finish under Rafa more than 10 years ago. To United, no less. Both those 2nd place finishes were exciting times, we had El Nino and then Suarez booming in the goals. Then we had Salah and Mane joint golden boot with our highest points haul ever, and STILL finish behind.

Many false dawns. So a Reds fan expects to be hoofed at the end.

But this time it's different. Dare we say? I finally dare.

Oh yeah and Moneyball. Klopp was the only football manager to really try understand the data backroom, but he is not reliant on it, which is what I like. He appreciates it and uses it to help him, but he still wants desire and hunger. So we have our machine today the way it is. Totally Liverpool. Totally Klopp.

It’s time to take care of domestic matters this season though. I’d love to win the CL again obviously but this season we need to win the PL. 30 years is far too long & like you say, after so many false dawns I think this could be our year.

Klopp is a magician & the best manager in the world. I don’t think any manager comes close. Guardiola is great but he always joins the richest team so it’s much easier. Klopp turned water into wine on a limited net budget spend. He is the GOAT

@big_daddy: You deserve the 19/1. I went for 3-0, and perhaps I was being a wee bit disrespectful of Citeh's attack. Silva deserved that goal, whatever, but I'm so glad Sterling had a torrid time. Some jinxes are just never going to go away. Priceless to see Sterling moan the way he does, and Pep too, but he turned out to be truly magnanimous in the end. He's right, you know, best team in the world =p

@cryptofrka I actually thought we were lucky too, but after finding out it hit Silva's hand first, I don't think anyone can complain. Tell you what though, VAR is so tricky it could easily have given the penalty, so I still haven't changed my mind about it!

The problem is the ambiguity of the handball rule. VAR usually gives these sorts of ones, or at least the first one (the second came off Silva's hand first so that would have been given for that).

Totally.  And it's hard not rooting for Klopp's success.  He's one of my favorite managers and I hope he stays at the EPL for a looong time.  Pep too...  Hopefully Mou comes back too, for flavor.

@tokeweed, it wouldn’t surprise me if Mou became Poch’s replacement at Spurs but not until the summer.
I think it’s all gone stale at Spurs & they’ll part ways at the end of the season.

To be honest, I'd be really surprised. Mourinho likes to spend and even if Levy lets him spend, they are still losing Eriksen, Alderweireld and Vertonghen on free transfers. That doesn't leave a strong team, their depth is nonexistent and whoever goes there will have a really tough job balancing fan expectations because reality is that Tottenham will probably not be a top 4 team from next season onwards.

Mou was always smart at picking his moves, whoever goes to Tottenham after Poch will either be desperate or inexperienced, wanting a challenge.

No way Mou's going to Tottenham.  Tottenham is a selling club, not buying.  And he's not a good fit imho.  It'd be better for Levy to look for one of the younger coaches out there...  Like Eddie Howe?

I actually like Howe, but feel as if Tottenham wants to at least challenge for that top 4 spot, they need to go for someone more experienced. To be honest, if Leicester keeps playing well this season, I think they might try and go for Rodgers.

TBH, if he goes there, I don't see him doing well. But that's the biggest problem with Tottenham now - what is considered 'doing well'?
Top 4? Probably, but it will be a long shot for them. And if you ask their fans, they will say top 4 is not good enough anymore.

Really? I always thought that he is one of most underestimated coaches and that he did absolutely brilliant job with the Spurs. I also thought that although he is somewhat overlooked when most of the people are talking about top coaches he is actually very liked and I don't remember hearing anybody having something bad to say about him.

So please share, I always like to hear different opinions, especially if they make me change my way of looking at the things.

Yeah, my opinion about Pochetino goes against the majority. I can't deny fact that Spurs had great achievements in these years. But they haven't won any trophies in all these seasons. Anything. And I lost count how many times they choked in key matches in EPL, Champions/Europa league or FA Cup. Probably only last Champions league campaign and matches against City and Ajax is the only exception.
On the other hand, Poch didn't as much opportunities as other top clubs, because he simply didn't got money to buy players.
I can't say that I'm hating him, it's more like mixed feelings. It will be interesting to see him in other club with bigger transfer budget. And ofcourse, it will be interesting to see in what direction Spurs will go.
