Whats to stop the seller from saying the buyer provided fraudulent amazon codes? Escrow in this case only works to protect the seller and not the buyer.

depends on the method of payment:

 1. You will find it challenging to buy Bitcoin if your payment methods are reversible as PayPal.
 2. Always use an escrow service before purchasing. "green trusted account or users in above list."

I have been thinking in this direction too. At what point can one be totally safe. How would you get to trust the escrow and other questions. This makes some people afraid to make transactions
