On another note, I'd recommend just telling your parents what it is and point them toward bitcoin.org. It's not a malicious program or anything so you should be able to get permission pretty easily.
Yeah, don't do that. There is pretty much no way that parents who restrict downloads are going to learn about and approve something to do with new online currency. But you probably weren't going to get much from mining anyway and you can still use Bitcoin by using an online wallet, no ID required. Then you can start accumulating by using the faucet and bitcoin bonus. After that maybe some kind of online work. Actually I think bitcoin bonus has some kind of referral system, maybe figure that out and show some of your friends. |

Depending on the security settings, you could download bitcoin (or one of the miners) and put it in a folder in your own documents. I assume you have your own account on the machine. Don't need admin access there, although windows might restrict strange EXEs running depending on the security level, no matter where they are.

Just because parents exercise some control over what their 10 year old (!) does online doesn't mean they're hyper-conservative or closed minded.
That said, given that this forum does allow people to discuss trading of drugs, weapons, porn and so on they'd have to be quite relaxed :-)
If you can't install any software, the best way to get started is to just read the forums, the wiki, see if you can start to understand the more technical content and figure out how BitCoin works. You could also chat to people on IRC using the FreeNode webchat interface (channel is #bitcoin-discuss or #bitcoin-dev).

Well actually, I just went on my dad's computer(which is a windows 7 and is pretty much ALWAYS logged in on his account which is an admin so he doesn't have to type in pass for downloads) and just somehow accidentally clicked on the download link to this, so now I'm just running it on my dad's comp.

Whoops ;-) You need your own computer! Though I'm pretty sure I said this before in the earlier part of this topic, well to sum it up for you: - I can't install things on my computer until one of my parents type in this admin password.
- I went on my dad's computer which is pretty much always logged in on his comp acc(which is an admin acc so the admin pass is not needed for downloads)
- I magically accidentally clicked on the bitcoin download link.

Heh  I guess BitCoin is an anti-trojan - attempts to pay you rather than scam you. However, casual installs like this could lead to bitcoin loss over time potentially, but on the other hand given how long it takes to mine just one without a GPU, it's probably a minimal risk. |
