Can you imagine what it would be like if their response time for wallet related issues was the same?

LOL,    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Totally Agree with that statement.

corruptsy never replies to problems they just create them.   so all my bitching aside. and thanks for listening. i did do research on mint coin and nothing indicated such wild price swings. live and learn i own 30 different coins so i am no newbie i mined dogecoin in first month of existence.  What i want to know is when i own mmnxt coin i get next coin in dividend right away posted to my acct.  why do you guys make people hold coins in wallet for credit?  is not the wallet address where i had my mintcoins sent enough to get posted interest?.  because i have never gotten any interest.  how do i do that?  do i need to have wallet on my computer?  I had 20 wallets on old one and it crashed it never updated too much info. So i guess what can i do/ why is it so difficult to get interest?  or do i not know how the whole process works. Thank You for helping Nanselmo.

You have to send the mintcoins to a Mintcoinaddress in a wallet that does proof of stake. Mintcoin wallets on exchanges do not do proof of stake, so if you want to Mint, probably the best bet is to put them in an address in a wallet on your computer. Then after 20 days, they will be eligible to Mint new coins. How many coins you have in the address also affects the speed of minting after the 20 days. If you have a more than a hundred thousand coins, you should be able to get the minting fairly easily like a few days. Your wallet needs to be connected to the internet and synced before the coins can mint. The reason for the waiting period is for security, decentralization and improved minting fairness. Hope that helps. Maybe some else can explain better.

Sick of mining?  Start minting!  5% per year!  Mintcoin "MINT"

Hey MINTers. I may have to discontinue MINT's free trial on presstab.pw. It is using up about 1/4 - 1/2 of the ram on my main server, and almost constantly at least 30% CPU if not 80%. The only way to fix this that I can see will be to push MINT to its own VPS, which will be a bit pricey. If anyone is interested, let me know, else I will have to discontinue. Sorry guys.

As I have also brought up before, it is being worked on as fast as possible. Rewriting a large portion of the code base takes time and there is a lot that needs to be rewritten to fix the CPU and RAM consumption issue.

I know... Smiley It was you and I  that was discussing it.. Still Frustrating.. I believe it is mainly caused by the 30 Sec block times honestly, but will be interesting to see how it is resolved as there are a few other coins with the same issue and they too have 30 sec block times..

Will these updates also help the orphan issue any,
Because mint orphans a lot more than before the last updates.

Thanks.

Thats a tough one to answer as it is both "yes" and "no".

Orphans due to network I/O lag caused by your resource usage being too high and having a sluggish or often "laggy" client should indeed be reduced as your system has to use less CPU/RAM to maintain the program. These types of orphans really do depend on your system specs so it is difficult to say with 100% certainty, prior to extensive testing.

However, orphans due to "bad luck" of two clients submitting a valid hash at the exact same time...that, unfortunately really is just "bad luck" and isn't really affected by resource usage.

OPTIONAL UPDATE - v2.0.1.0

This patch is intended to be the last release of the 2.0 branch and the "beginning of the end" for the old and outdated single-file blockchain database structure. Before the next major version however, we wanted to make some of the network/message/cpu optimizations available. Some of the changes included in this release are:

  • Back ports from mainline bitcoin to improve message handling.
  • Disable some mining code that is no longer used during the pure proof-of-stake phase.
  • Bloom filter feature added to increase privacy.
  • Many small network optimizations.

The biggest benefit is much lower CPU usage and bandwidth used. While memory consumption still remains on the "high" side, a few memory leaks were fixed that will prevent a situation of exponential memory usage increase from occurring when the wallet is left open over extended periods of time.

HOW TO UPDATE

Since this release still runs on the single-file database format, updating is a simple process of replacing your binary executable. Please make sure that no MintCoin processes are currently running before replacing this file! Once the file has been replaced, start up your wallet/daemon as usual.

DOWNLOADS

Click the logo at the top of this post to go directly to the Github release page, where you will find all available wallet/daemon downloads.
For those of you that would rather download directly:

Daemons have no GUI!

All startup and RPC commands from previous versions, as well as conf file format remain the same.
All Images, Logos, and GUI elements remain consistent with previous 2.0 branch releases.

Work continues on the 2.1 release, which will further improve memory usage and introduce new features.

Good to see some more updates, as it was on one of the first research sites I check daily & great research data in the build layout of the site. The BBcode has been updated, changed the icons for the wallets links & a few other fixes. Here's the link to both:

EDIT: Just sent a message to fairglu from CryptoID explorer. I hope they update so we have latest nodes list. Right now just one node on latest version.

the '/MintCoin:2.0.1/' subversion you see on CryptoID was from the 2.0.1.0 test build where I specifically changed the it so I could easily find the test clients to make sure they were playing nicely with the network. 2.0.1.0 release is still using the '/MintCoin:0.7.2/' subversion.

It won't be until the 2.1 release where the reported subversion is officially changed.

node lists for the purpose of gaining connections are basically unnecessary now with 3 active DNS Seeders and possibly a 4th on the way. However, I do agree that node lists for the purpose of statistical analysis of network coverage is a fun thing to dig into. I initially wanted to update the subversion for this patch release for that exact purpose, but we ultimately decided to hold off until 2.1.

Only got a link to a binaries and source zip (https://github.com/MintcoinCommunity/Mintcoin-Desktop-Wallet/releases/tag/v2.0.1.0), but the github repository itself has not been updated (last commit from august 5, cf. https://github.com/MintcoinCommunity/Mintcoin-Desktop-Wallet/commits/master)

Is the github repository itself going to be abandoned and only used for downloads? (updated explorer wallet from src.zip but using src.zip means changes and commit history are lost, unability to easily fork locally, etc.)

Subversion updates should be generally harmless, it's protocol version change you have to watch for.
