I also started to follow MintCoin. I believe it is worth to invest now and see possible price increase in a few weeks.

Does this coin have a future or is dying a slow death?? Anyone like to update please??
It cannot really go any lower than this, so if it ever gets revived, the upside is multiple-100%, while the downside is at most -50% (if you can buy at 2 sats), so make your choice.

That feels like you are saying "your dog cannot get any sicker than this so why have it put down" or something like that :S

If anything it is on a comeback, allot of people are finding out about this coin atm.
And with all these coins making massive comebacks atm (like reddcoin) everything is possible.
We have a bright future (always have).

I heard rumor that Mintcoin will be next pump after Reddcoin :-)

Can you say more about what you heard?

I figure MINT is headed to 30 sat (rough estimate) over the next few months. However, this is pure speculation and I'm curious what other people are saying.

Does anyone have any questions about my idea?   (Thank you!)

Or do not understand my idea, because of my poor English?   (So sorry!!)

I really want to help "MINTcoin and people around the world"!!!!!!!!!

I am """NOT""" kidding, I had invested more than "$US 700,000 dollars (ALL my possessions!!!)" for "it"!!!!!!!!!
"IT" IS MY DREAM!!!!!!!!!

I very so love MINTcoin!!!!!!!!!
MINTcoin is "FUTURE", and I will achieve "it", please TRUST ME, thank you very so much!!!!!!!!!

(Thank you so much!)

Your english is OK, so no problems there.
Maybe you could start by sharing a bit of background: why MINT coin? How did you learn about it? What is so special in it for your project that makes MINT the perfect choice for it, rather than any other cryptocurrency? Stuff like that.

Thank you!!

My idea was to start thinking when I came into contact with MINTcoin.   (Started in late February 2014!)

"5% APR of MINTcoin" is very so important to me!!!!!!!!!

My idea is to "discount" any merchandise, discount is """98% OFF"""!!!!!!!!!

For MINTcoin, this will make it the most useful currency ever!!!

For people around the world, this will be able to buy any merchandise at a SUPER cheap price!!!!!!!!!   ("""98% OFF"""!!!!!!!!!)

The price cost all by me to bear, consumers only need to bear the original price of """2%"""!!!!!!!!!   (My website "ONLY" accept "MINTcoin"!!!)

I have "enough" MINTcoin, so """5% APR of MINTcoin""" can let me achieve my idea!!!

(Thank you so much!)

So the idea is to take the MINT that people spend in your shop and earn 5% annually to recover the difference in the price. Have you calculated how long it would take to earn (with 5% annual return) the difference between the 2% sales price and the 98% loss that you will have on each sale?

For example: you buy a $100 gift card and then sell it for $2 (in MINT of course). Then you start to earn 5% on the $2. How long will it take to recover the $98 you lost in the sale?

Is there something about your idea that I'm not understanding?

Your English is good enough, not poor.

It takes a few days to sync from scratch. I guess there is also a bootstrap somewhere.

You should be able to receive connections if you let the wallet run.  Are you not seeing any connections in the debug window?

i don't open my wallet for three years.. have i all the time get minting? and get i the coins after i have syn?

You won't see minted coins from that time period that your wallet was offline.  Minting requires your wallet to be online and securing the network.  You'll want to download the newest wallet and sync fully.  Your coins should be available once you've downloaded the chain via the network or with the bootstrap.  You can check if your coins are waiting for you by inputing your address(es) into a block explorer.

http://oi58.tinypic.com/140dcw3.jpg  Updates from the Mintcoin Team:  http://oi58.tinypic.com/140dcw3.jpg

WARNINGWE HAVE NO ASSOCIATION WITH MINTCOIN DOT ORG

New Wallet Released - Recommended Upgrade

RECOMMENDED UPDATE - v2.0.2

This is a security and maintenance patch for the 2.0 branch of MintCoin. As work towards the 2.1 overhaul is being extended, we are continuing to make adjustments and forward compatibility patches to our current release branch (2.0). Included in this release are a number of updates related to security. Though mostly edge cases, we feel it is important to include such patches for completeness.

  • Support for 3rd party transaction URLs
    Security / dependencies updates
    CLI / GUI upadtes
    Misc. updates
NOTE FOR SELF-COMPILERS

This release is NOT contained in the master branch of the MINT repository, it is in the 2.0 branch exclusively! The 2.0 branch contains backports from our development repos that were custom tailored specifically for the 2.0 branch of MINT. Rather than deal with a chain of rebases, we decided to branch off the 2.0 tree from master. The process for compiling this release yourself contains the additional step of making sure you have the correct branch (or tag) checked out.

Mintcoin: Recent Statistics
~Mintcoin Original Launch Date: February 06, 2014
The following stats provided by coolbeans94 are based on the most current information as of Dec. 6th, 2016:
According to the best data I can find, Mintcoin's POS reward was at the 10% APR for a total of approximately 347 days, and produced 1.3 billion coins in that time. From approximately 22.6 billion coins on 12/21/2015 to 23.9 billion on 12/2/2016. This means the MINT network produced an average of 3.75 million new coins per day during that time. This works out to about a 6.1% APR increase in the money supply. If every Mintcoin in existence was consistently minting, then we would expect a 10% increase in the money supply during this time. But this is not the case, and from this we can see that only about 60.1% of the coins were actually actively minted (minting participation rate).

In the last year, minters received approximately 10% APR increase in their coins, while the inflation of the money supply was only 6.1%. So the minter outperforms the increase in the money supply (inflation effects) by approximately 64%.

Mintcoin's POS reward is now at 5% APR so all else equal, the money supply will increase by about 650 million coins or 3.05% over the coming year. Minters will receive 5% APR, thus still outperforming the increase in the money supply (inflation effects) by approximately 64%.

The minter, will always outperform the inflation rate because not all coins are minted.
Many coins have been lost over the years and are out of circulation, but all coins that exist are still considered part of the money supply as there is no way to accurately account for them as some may be held on exchanges or offline or not minted for whatever reason. As long as you are consistent to mint at least once per year you will get the full 5% APR which will always be more than the inflation rate.

I noticed that Fuzzbawls, the MINT developer, is also one of the developers of PIVX, a privacy based PoS coin which has been soaring in price lately.
I have downloaded the PIVX wallet to check it out and compare and it really loads fast and runs using about 1/6 the RAM that MINT does. Is there any possibility that since we have Fuzzbawls as our dev, the beneficial features of PIVX code such as anononiminty, instant transactions, and wallet performance optimizations will be migrated into MINT? I like the features of PIVX, and I see why people like it, except I believe MINT's proof of stake parameters are much better and more fair for long-term growth and sustainability. And the 5% APR is perfect for long-term growing.
Privacy in coins seem to be all the rage now and I for one would welcome the changes neccesary to upgrade MINT code to allow for Master Nodes coin mixing anononiminty, faster transactions, and smoother overall performance, such as faster loading times and less RAM usage. MINT uses a lot of RAM compared to other wallets and I'm not entirely sure why. I know MINT has a lot of coins and a lot of blocks and 2x faster block speed even than PIVX which is nice.
But what I'm saying is, average user will probably not tolerate running a wallet if it seems like such a hog.and people want privacy/anonymity.
I think if MINT were to adopt these PIVX features, it would bring new life into this coin.
Regardless of what others might think, MINT has the best proof of stake parameters of all the coins. This is the core of our coin; what makes Mintcoin MINT! But I believe MINT is being held back by a lack of optimization and technological advances that didn't exist in the beginning.
What does Fuzzbawls think?
Anyone else on board with me? If so, how can it be done? What is our roadmap for development? I think if even just the word gets out that MINT is going to implement similar PIVX anonymous/privacy features and upgrades, as part our development roadmap, then it will give MINT a big boost. And once finally implemented, I see MINT becoming a top 10 contender. I for one am willing to invest big into MINT if this roadmap becomes a reality. Demand for privacy is big. Before people are going to store a lot of wealth on this coin people will demand these features.

Yes I'm currently working with PIVX on a few things that will (eventually) lead to improvements for MINT. There is a very big technical road block that affects both projects' optimization and performance. Speaking about resource usage, you really can't compare MINT to coins with shorter chains, as resource usage does scale with chain length. most coins will consume similar resources given similar chain lengths. That isn't to say there aren't further optimizations that can be done.

I myself don't see MINT moving towards privacy/anon focused features. Given the number of recent coins doing that, I feel that there are enough coins focusing on that already and would like to see MINT have a different focus. That is of course just my own opinion and my opinion alone is not the deciding force as to where MINT goes.
Good news!! We hope that the price of MINT can be like IPVX to 1.5$ Smiley

Can anyone please give an update on the development of MINT?  I know you may be working on your other projects before jumping back on this one, and people are buying in anticipation of that development, but if you can give an idea when you would be able to start working on MINT again we would appreciate it.

Thanks for bringing this one back!
