I just noticed that we're on 1.9.1 (haven't been on here much), I'm running 1.9.0 so I downloaded the latest source (https://github.com/mintcoinproject/mintcoin).  Compiled it (linux) and it's version 1.9.0, where can I get the 1.9.1 source?  thanks
Latest source is on github. When compiled, it says 1.9.0.0 in about window, but that's ok, it's 1.9.1 (If you're not sure, check if it generates stake blocks)

Mintcointeam, great work you are doing.

May I ask how many developers there are in all on the team?

Do you have an estimate of when the big news will be released? All of us are getting pretty excited about it.

Could it mean a mega skyrocket in price up to 3,000 satoshis for MINT?

Thanks again!

Just to clarify for everyone, we got:
- One dev with the premine, founder of mintcoin.
- David Latapie, volunteer and registrant of the mintcoin fund NGO.
- The mintcoin fund with a Board made up of between 3 and 9 members
- Moderators of mintcoin on social media like facebook, reddit and so on.
- And a few regular mintcoin enthusiasts, like me, writing posts, occasionally donating and making suggestions.

Is that right?
Almost. There is not one dev, there are several. But only one answer, the other just read but never answer (well, almost never)

Who operates the mintcoin team account on this forum, the dev?
Yes, the devs

How will the NGO operate?
See bylaws but basically like any NGO: members and board, working groups for various task, fundraising on one hand, sponsoring on another hand. The idea of an endowment fund is that the endowment generates interests and these interest can be used for action - but not the endowment itself - much like the way mintcoin itself works Smiley

Will the fund convert donations to fiat and send it to redwood reforestation as a donation and be done with it? It's great to have a fund doing good but it's prime goal is to help AND create awareness. So it would be great if we can have someone out there holding a check with a big mintcoin logo on it and the photo will show up in the local news and on the internet.
We will encourage using services paid in mintcoins but let's get real. Still, there are some cases where it is immediatly advantageous to use mintcoin, like when receving fiat donation and transfering it to another part of the globe. Even if the amount of money stays, it creates volume and reduces transnational fees.

Overall I feel mintcoin should grow up and feel a bit more professional, part of the pre-mine could be used for this end and marketing. There is much to be done before we are worthy of a big time investor.
Ideally, the premine should be the endowent Smiley For legal reason, a part of it should be in fiat, but the buld of the premine should be the endowment. It would another premiere: premine as an endowment, with the standard of transparency that comes with a legally registered NGO, lightyears away of Cryptoland standards of transparency. Best of both world: on the human side, NG incentive for transparency; on the technological side, blockchain technlogy to enforce said transparency

BTW. there's a bug in mintcoin wallet 1.9.1:
- I've got the wallet encrypted and locked.
- Going to the send screen, entering a valid address and amount
- then clicking Send does not show the unlock wallet where you can enter a passphrase, nothing happens.
- I first have to click unlock wallet button and only then I can send coins.
short: The "Unlock wallet" window should appear when clicking send and the wallet is locked.
I don't code, I can't help. The wallet shall be completely revamped, it is terribly unoptimised. Look at zetacoin's wallet for a faaaaast wallet. Why Mintcoin's wallet is so dull is beyond my understanding (no, this is not because of PoS; I have other PoS wallet and they work fine).

Monero: the first crytocurrency to bring bank secrecy and net neutrality to the blockchain.HyperStake: pushing the limits of staking.

Kergekoin did you program the new wallet?

Have you read what I mentioned earlier?

Running on Windows 8

Yes i am aware of that bug, but i am not the one who made this pull request. If i get some time, i could take a look at it.
I integrated coin control features for Mintcoin and couple of minor fixes. Those are working properly.

That means you're not the one who compiled it right? The coin control is a nice addition for people who want to use it, thanks. I wish mintcoin had an active dedicated wallet programmer but it really runs all on people with busy lives.

I would love to manage a mintcoin team, help and inspire and set realistic goals. But I feel most of my contribution on this thread, see previous posts is just going into the bit bucket.

Dallas5, have a look at my pull request on GitHub.

If Mintcoin had a wallet like Silkcoin has (Best wallet out there...bar none) it would really add a lot of life to Mintcoin. Their wallet is quite fancy and does so much more than just hold your coins. If you haven't seen Silkcoins wallet, I encourage you to download it and have a look at it.

thanks but this is pre-compiled and says v1.9.0 in about mintcoin.

thanks, I'll keep my compiled version then...gotta wait for it to catch up (sync) to be sure it generate stake blocks.

+1 for this
i seen their wallet the other day and its by far the best wallet, we defiantly need a wallet like this or at least make it look a little more professional.

@David Latapie

Thanks for the answers, you know all these questions and doubts from mintcoiners are the direct result of not being transparent from the start. But I'm still going to assume there is a reason and a grand plan in the works.

I would like to start and lead a mintcoin promotion group only if the devs or someone else is willing to donate at least 1 million mints to show their support. This will be used only for mintcoin and to help the group in reaching it's goals.

<snap>

The first donation of 100000 is from myself and if I'm unable to get a group of people together at the end of the month everything will go to the official mintcoin fund.

@skwurp looks like you fixed it but it's still needs to be merged in the main/master wallet's code right? I don't use github much.

Thanks! You're not bad either Crindon Smiley

I don't know. How high can you get when you have free and unlimited advertising?

Your are too idealized, the sell orders are too big. When it has a high price, I realized it. The sell orders have been very big always.

What I don't get is why the people selling don't just hold the coins in their wallet and mint MINT? It's about 1% every 20 days and that can add up, especially since February/March 2014.

Because the total coins are too large. If it's small, the sell orders will be eaten very fast so it has no effect to the market.

I didn't have spare BTC's then. I do now. I am gonna buy MINT. MINT is making a comeback. Can't wait to see what the developer will be releasing in the news and what the extended team is doing. Combined and with the unlimited advertising that the developer mentioned MINT is gonna get big.

I understand your reference to the developers comment about " unlimited advertising ". Can you explain exactly what that means? Is this something exclusive to Mintcoin?
