As for me, I'll take the volatility. For a hodler, it doesn't matter. We aren't going to be scared by dips smaller percentage wise than other historical crashes.
Bitcoin is up over 100% from the past year. Take any huge chunk of time. Bitcoin is up from the beginning of that period, to the end.

And decentralized ledgers are kind of the point of bitcoin. No need to be a slave. We don't need to be directed by masters.

But to each, his own. You have a right to pay allegiance to a centralized party.

i only see one problem in your comment and that is "manipulation" and that is not a big problem when it comes to "bitcoin growth" that you are so concerned about.
manipulation is a part and parcel of any market and it happens all the time. the difference is that bitcoin is still small so it is more effective here. but it is a lot bigger compared to previous years and as we move ahead and have increased adoption it becomes less and less effective. and people aren't going to give up getting involved with bitcoin just because in short term there is some manipulation!

Its only due to speculation that traders find interest in buying bitcoins and it helps to manage a continuous demand for bitcoin.Otherwise its demand ratio would fall against surplus supply ratio which would result in its price fall.Also investors too buy bitcoin expecting it to give a good ROI.

I don't think both the problems ever gonna solved. As far as problem one is concerned, it is impossible to ensure equitable distribution of cryptocurrencies since at the time of entrance not everyone knows the potential of coin and almost all the cryptocurrencies have very less population as initial investors which means large individual holdings. As coin gets popularity and surge with time, more people start buying that coin but they can only own low supply since price is high. So initial HODLers with large supply will always be present for every coin.
About problem two, speculation can never end for Bitcoin or any other coin since cryptocurrencies are majorly used as trading investment and items of trading are always subject to speculation.

Previously been discussed about price manipulation or monopolize prices. I remembered the words of my friend, that sometimes price manipulation is indispensable to withstand unexpected movements.
for example like this, if someone has a lot of bitcoin and he will sell it then the price will fall very deep, because there is price manipulation that can withstand the price decline, and vice versa.
I know you must be worried about a case like this, but trust me this is all for the benefit of bitcoin users.

Bitcoin has never been anonymous in the beginning. And criminals will be criminals, they will take advantage to steal or exploit someone so blockchain or bitcoin is no difference.

But if you are trying to compare it against fiat. Criminals have been using it as well for illegal activities, so why put the blame on bitcoin itself? I guess authorities should also do their thing here if they really wanted to stop all the criminals in the world

Bitcoin can have temporary control by event and activities of some big investors by taking large sum of bitcoin to the market. That does not means bitcoin is centralized.
