I believe that in addition to capitalization, the number of investors and other things, we need to take into account the relevance of the idea. A lot of the same ideas, and such original ones that make you believe in yourself, very little. It should not be a clone of other currencies and should not be a fantasy fiction. It must be something relevant and necessary.

To look for potential Altcoins I started by reading a thread about new projects on Announcements (Altcoins) Board, then I try to understand what they offer like the function of their coin on their platform, market opportunity, their platform superiority over competitors, etc.

If I already understand the information about their project I can decide that the coin is potential or not

Successful altcoins have potential project that capture the market quickly. You need to choose those altcoins that have a great opportunity to shine in the market and also have a good team to execute their project effectively.

if you are looking for alt that has real potential, then look for alt who already have a product that has been run and also useful or a favorite by everyone. market cap and trading volume also greatly influence an alt to continue growing.

Personally, I invest in altcoyins. I choose altcoins for investment by market capitalization. I buy coins from the top 10 for capitalization. Coins with lower capitalization are very risky to buy, and I do not buy them. My favorite coins are Ripple and EOS.

Personally I do not mainly search for thing to invest on.
I just invest on things that came to my knowledge, such as altcoins that appear in airdrops and etc, it seems like if you search really hard for ICOs you will end up investing in something that doesn't worth and you will end up losing money.

The most important rule in ICOs investing is to make your own research and not to fall for advertising that are trying to attract hype, they usually won't even end up completing the things they promised and will make the investor lose money.
The more caution you take while investing in ICOs the higher success rate you gonna have.

How do you research altcoins to invest in? I'm talking about legit/long term investing in projects that have real potential to become something that creates value.

How do you find the coins you're looking for?

What are your go to tools?

I think that's a really hard thing to do, considering the amount of projects that exist out there, and the ones that just keep on coming. I usually take a look to some channels, and see what people are saying about them. If they catch my attention, I will then read their whitepaper and try to see i their dev team is any good. I try to see if they where involved in other projects, and how well they ended up being. I also try to see if they have good partnerships or something like that, and finally I try to see what they are saying in their own channels.

After combining all that information I decide if I want to invest or not. Another thing that is important, is to see what is the structure of their token sale, because some of them just look like pure ponzi schemes.

The extraordinary should not be except that the price, the number of tokens and payments. Other moments they can praise as you like. Also, the company is obliged to have a finished product, just to show a hint of what they want to produce.

What are your go to tools?
Most of the research are done on through the information you find on their webpage,ANN thread and googling the project to check reviews.
Firstly,  read the concept of the project to know if the team and owner are bring a fresh ideas which will have utility to survive and yield more profit in future.
Secondly, do research about the team involving, the project partnership and also check if the project is been registered (that's bonus guarantee cause not all good project are registered).
Thirdly, go through the road map so you'll know how long you need to hold the coin in other for you to have max profit.
Meanwhile, I usually go for project that have been exist before or have dedicated and hardworking team. Check out UBCoin and here is their ANN thread .

I think the main way to know which altcoin is good to invest in for longterm is checking project behind them. But I think it's not easy to know which project is good or not cause I think only professional investors or traders can know that Smiley. But you still can get help from some group on Tele or Facebook Grin

Just open coinmarketcap, sort by the volume of trades and start studying coins with a small capitalization and trading volumes of more than 10-15k $. Open website, social accounts. If twitter and facebook accounts are working the project is worth to exploring. Abandoned coins are immediately rejected. If you like something, learn more deeply. Learn ann thread on bitcointalk. It gives a lot of information

GTIHUB, this is an excellent website.
Most blockchain projects implement open source code, so you can judge the project by analyzing the open source code.

But what if I understand nothing about coding and all of these source codes mean nothing to me? Anyway, I use Github when I just want to make sure that the project is really woring on their product, regularly updating and changing their code. It's especially important when I analyze ICOs, it's necessary to know how they spend the money they gather.

There are many ways to research the altcoins. Some follow GITHUB, some follow the ratings and some go through the white paper of individual coins. Some follow all the mentioned.

Is some project good for long-term investment I decide by several
factors. First from all I check what they wish to achieve and will it be
practical for masses to use it. Usability of the product is important,
without it project doesn't have a future. I check team behind the project.
In the end I check how they promote their project, his active their team
is on several social networks.
I love to read what people have to say on this forum. Many people have
very good comments, and it's nice to see what people have to say here. By
reading what people wrote here you can see what alt-coins are in trend.

BIG WINNER!

I usually join the ico buy group on the telegram. Contribute capital with them to buy ico.

Does this really work? I just heard that in such groups often give the wrong information ... If you can make money on it - that's fine! I would not risk so much, I follow the whole market and if I see promising projects I buy their tokens!

I know a very fast tool that a friend of mine made. It helps you scan the sites and find if the site has anything published about the coin .
Check this out. It's a prototype but still a huge time saver.

My important research before invest anything in ICO .
1 Do your own Research.
2 See their capability team.
3 and looking at ico listing website rate like icobench etc
4 See their progress in every social media.
5 Keep looking how their maintain their project .
6 Validation their team .
7 Look at their promotion with real money. its can knowing they have capital . they have product and they was serious.

It does not promise that the project will be successful. but at least they shows the seriousness and also how they run their project.

I usually join the ico buy group on the telegram. Contribute capital with them to buy ico.

Not worth it. because there may be individuals in the group who are paid to make false recommendations. and such groups will only make you lose your assets and waste money. can be spelled like a scam. I can not believe there are such groups that let other people in by simply paying some money.
