<...>
I started-off with 25 per 30 days back in September 2018. That went on for some months until there was a Merit Source reallocation at the beginning of this year, moving up to a much more handsome figure (which I’ve currently exhausted and I’m now running through my personal earned sMerit backlog).

Edit: I think there are lower starting points is some local boards. I recall reading someone stating a lower amount than 25. Let's see if I can find it.
Ok, I can stop searching now .... I've got an old PM that hints a Merit Source with a lower amount back then, but still in the two digits.

hahahaha

Surely 25 source smerits per month is lower than my speculation of 50... So, yeah, case in point.  Do you believe that there is (or was) any 15(s) out there?    Shocked

Edit: Second time in a week, in this thread, that I have had to take everything back.  A member has just sent me a direct message asserting a source of smerits that is 15 per month... There you have it....  Wink.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Could the source supply also been given on how active a source-member is at the forum?

Or mainly where the source is active?

Cause from around 15 to 200 and more is a big difference?

200 source smerits per month is surely NOT the top of the range.

Clearly there are a few members who have in the neighborhood of 400 to 500 smerits per month.  You can look at the top merit senders to reasonably make such calculation about the top merit senders.

It seems to me that theymos would not want to limit himself regarding too specific of criteria (such as activity level) to determine how large to make each of the source's monthly supply, and I suppose that he uses a decent amount of discretion to determine who to pick and whether to increase or decrease their monthly allocation.

I recall that he has made some posts that generally discuss some criteria that he might use to determine source status, including the thread that I believe you attempted to follow when you applied for source status, and maybe if a source is NOT active enough or is not spending monthly source allotments, he might choose to reduce their source, so you are likely correct that activity level might be one of the things that he considers... besides some of the other disclosures that he made about the preference for no self dealing and stuff like that.

Anyone else have a better assessment of how theymos might balance criteria and determine source smerit levels, since I have not been batting too high in this particular thread in the past couple of days?   Wink

Usually the generous users in giving merits were active. It  is a common sense that it is not easy to rewards merit to a quality post and it is not also easy to spot a post that is worth for merits. So, if one wishes to know how active those generous merit source will be then just get the basis on how frequent they rewards merit to the users here in the forum. The more users they merited in the forum meaning the more active they are as a source-member.

Though not all active merit source users since they too have their reason and we cannot deny the fact they are not oblige to be here at all times. A merit source is just a privilege to them given by the admin and they are being trusted.

You see Loyce.   Shocked  You are showing that I am on a streak to be wrong in this thread, once again.

The numbers are even higher than 400 to 500 source smerits per month because some members are sending more than 500 smerits in a month.. and over 1,000 as you show in this list from last month presumably a vast majority of those smerits are coming from their source allocation.

I haven't updated my posts on the front page this week.

I just want to say that the detection algorithm has spotted the following members as new merit sources:
1) Quickseller
2) cabalism13
3) CryptopreneurBrainboss
4) micgoossens

I will update all tables and chart later. Wink

All tables and chart on the first page have been updated.

This week the analysis has detected Coolcryptovator as a new merit source.

Many appointed Merit Sources tend to have small allowances to start-off with. They also are often people that earn merits (thus generating sMerits), so during the first months, the awarded sMerits from the Merit Source allocation may not exceed the generated/unspent sMerits, and thus remain undetected (as is the case of @Coolcryptovator I presume).

You're right. The previous week, Coolcryptovator wasn't detected as a merit source because he earned a lot of merits before being appointed to the new status. As I can see, he sent dozens of sMerits this week and now his generosity index is 24, so the detection algorithm can spot him.

By the way, it does appear that as of last week, theymos added an additional 7 merit sources (raising the total merit sources from 123 to 130)
I believe he actually added 8 new merit sources because one was removed.

I will exclude a member from the list of detected merit sources if this information is confirmed.

Theymos has responded to my request to be removed as a merit source.  No more working for free.  Smiley

Also, QuestionAuthority I believe was removed from being a merit source, as was stingers. Neither of them are bold in the OP, so I am not sure if you already know this or not

Thanks for the information. As far as I understand, Vod voluntarily decided to be excluded from the list of merit sources. Therefore, he will not be marked in bold in the next update of this TOP-200.

I updated the tables and chart on the first page.

tk808 was detected by analysis as a new merit source.

I also published monthly statistics for May 2019.

dbshck is the leader of this TOP-200 in the previous month. Looks like his allocation is about 1500 sMerits. Cool

As far as I understand, Vod voluntarily decided to be excluded from the list of merit sources. Therefore, he will not be marked in bold in the next update of this TOP-200.

Vod was excluded from the list of detected merit sources.

I'm glad tk808 was made a merit source. The altcoin boards needed a little more love thrown their way. Many of us merit sources are leery to sift through that garbage heap, although I'm sure there are quite a few gems that we are missing.

As I was looking on Merit Stats back then and right now, why does it seems that suchmoon and dbschk doesn't run out of sMerits? If we will have a computation I think their sMerits is being poured is just a short time?  Even if I'm a Source now, it still bothers me Huh Can someone enlighten me? TIA.

All sources are replenished the same way - they get their sent sMerits "poured" 30 days (to the second) after they send them.

The only difference is the monthly allocation, i.e. max number of source sMerits they can send in those 30 days. Plus they can have earned merits too, which are not subject to limits or replenishment so you'll often see sources seemingly exceeding their allocation but that's just them dipping into their own stash.

Looking at your sent merits - you sent a couple on May 10 and 11 - if those were source sMerits you'll get them replenished on June 9 and 10. Then there is a big batch on May 15 - you'll get the replenishment on June 14.

You should make a "A day in the life of a source" thread, here have some more to get you going  Grin

Yeah, its my first month as source as well, but I empty it, as I empty my "own stash as well" I do not hoard merit....
We have to send them around, just need to be sent to post that earns and to members with good and positive discussion attitude, maybe if you are a good Merit sender your allocation will be expanded after an X-time of being a source.....

XhomerX10 designed my nice avatar HATs!!!!!  Thanks Bro

My three posts and chart on the first page have been updated again.

The detection algorithm has spotted Vispilio as a new merit source. This member is active in the turkish local board.

It should be noted that in this TOP-200 the merit source chimk is now rated 3rd.

I also published monthly statistics for June 2019. And again dbshck is the leader of the previous month. Cool

Thank you for clarifying how sources are replenished. It seems that this is not a trivial algorithm.
