In my opinion ETH could beat BTC not now maybe in the future ...
Why ?

Think about 60-70% of all cryptocurrency are ERC-20 (Based on ethereum smart contract )
When you transfer, withdraw, deposit your erc20 token you have to pay the gas fee in ethereum
With ethereum you can easy build an Dapp for gambling, games, casino
Ethereum is faster then BTC
Ethereum have low transaction fee then BTC

BTC was the first and everyone who are talking about the cryptocurrency will say "O yeah Bitcoin right ?" the first cryptocurrency that will apear in your mind will be bitcoin for ever , because with bitcoin start that technology .

Ethereum have a huge potential but bitcoin was the first ...

Anyway Ethereum can beat bitcoin in the future (not on these year ) buy maybe in 2-3 years

I think the time is very near when we will have to see the competition between BTC and ETH. Bitcoin is the pioneer but ETH is doing good. Both have some advantages to win. However, the time will show the result. But I have strong faith on Bitcoin honestly.

I doubt that ethereum will be the number no one can surpass bitcoin because bitcoin will still be the first to all even this year was continues going down the value but the positive mindset of the others will still and bitcoin still the first of all coins. Bitcoin will be rise again like before and we all know why it gonna happen because of some reason so bitcoin will still number  on to other.

IMO, in the future, Ethererum will be more potent than Bitcoin, and high potential ETH will surpass BTC on the market cap in the market in the next 2 years. At the moment, Bitcoin has many disadvantages such as slow transaction speed and high transaction fees. If not improved in the future, it will be difficult to keep the top 1 position.

Yes, as of now, bitcoin are very low price but we don't worry about that, comes a time it will rise soon and will be the biggest coin price, just be patient.

Ethereum does show a great improvement each day and got more solid with the people used it for smart contract, but for fame bitcoin still dominate, eth still lose with btc if talking about transaction volume and support, for now btc still number one, eth still need more support to beat down btc

for now bitcoin still ranks first in the market at the highest price. it's tough if Ethereum wants to shift Bitcoin because until now bitcoin is able to survive and provide the best even now Bitcoin is very popular, many investors join in Bitcoin.
