So far no altcoin has changed anything about addresses and transactions. They basically focus only on mining and the number of coins.

If there where any flaw in the Bitcoin protocol of course they would be affected, too.

All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update

As the flaw is only present in Gox's shitty code and they don't trade any alts, the answer would be "no".

Depends what you mean by flaw.

The flaw that gox is blaming lies in their client not in the bitcoin protocol. That's why other exchangers are now affected.

The so called bug they are referring in the protocol which is harmless unless a idiot is using bitcoin , is in all the alt coins.
So , if the guys at cryptsy are running the same software as gox while being on the same level of idiocy  , a lots of the alts will share the "benefits". .

Not bad for an answer but I do feel like the bitcoinfoundation needs to step in and really clear the situation for all the people out there. So all the fud spreaders will be silenced and gox finally caught with their lies.

Yes, this so-called "bug" concerns all altcoins.

But as far as we know, MtGox was the only exchange so stupid to process transactions this way, and they don't trade altcoins, so no, in practice, none are affected.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Not really true, other exchanges are also affected.

Guess it would depend on how the other exchanges processed transactions. More than likely there is at least one other exchange that processed them similar to MtGox. However, only MtGox was stupid enough just to stop all withdrawals indefinitely until the bitcoin source code changes. They are plenty of other options, and completely stopping withdrawals instead of attempting work arounds will hurt them more.

Not not really true because when other exchanges get a, "hi where has my bitcoin withdrawal gone" email they're smart enough to search for the tx outputs to see if the transaction was dropped.

Are you sure they are not affected by the FUD and not because of the so called "bug".
