Hello to all i need some confimations or info.

I will build 3 mining rig, all have same configurations.


RIG Configuration

Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7

-> first question: the riser must have power or not? please tell me about the riser? and are also the new riser whit usb powerd cable ok?

RAM 8 GB

5x R9 270 OC (Gigabyte)

-> are GPU MSI also good?

LOW POWER CPU Athlon II X2

PSU Corsair 1200W ai - this power for other test whit other more power GPU i will change in future

And what isw the better os solution for this rig? BAMT, W8.1, Xbunto,.....?

Use a powered riser not a usb powered riser.


MSI GPUs are also very good.

get pci-e 16x to pci-e 16 extention cables and you shouldnt need to power them

if you try to put in a lot of cards (like 5 or more )
 you will need them because the motherboard wont be able to feed the 75 watts per pci-e slot

p.s. dont use anything usb powered ... that is asking for trouble

thx. Ok i will buy powered...because i will put 5x Card. 5x pcie riser powered 16x right?

I will put RAM 8GB 1 block, i read is better right?

And CPU for mz gigabyte.. FX4300 io ok or better FX6300, i read CPU is not important for mining.

Why are you choosing 270 cards? 280X is the way to go or if you can find for cheap HD 7950, they are even better.

Hello ok many thx i have buy all 16x powered, now the new questions is.

my PSU Corsair 1200AXi have only 2 cable with double 6pin PCIe, and this is ok for two cards.

now for the other i will put the single power 6pin and other? my card work with 2x 6pin PCIe power

i have to double the origina Corsair or better a molex option with 6pin power?

If your PSU can deliver the power, but doesn't have enough connectors, use Molex splitters to increase the number of 4 pin molex plugs and attach molex to PCI-e adaptors.

It looks a bit of a mess, but what else can you do?
