banning bitcoin would mean that all the sites that may use it suddenly stop offering it. If the intention is to have it become a currency and not just speculate from price explosions, than your idea is most certainly not a good one.

Then you must buy bitcoins before the ban happens so you can successfully Hodl!

Whenever something is banned, its price goes UP. So please, ban to your evil heart's content. in this case if feds ban BTC (impossible) prices will go down :p because there would be no shops around for btc, only few people around interweb will use btc, so ban btc will not make price higher (my guess)

Well, the Feds are just inclusive to the U.S.A. so wouldn't that mean that just Americans and U.S based Bitcoin shops would not be able to use Bitcoin anymore? The rest of the world would still be fine.

aaahok if so .... but there is a risk of dumping coins after ban. Better to stay like it is now and just spread it wider across globe!

Whenever something is banned, its price goes UP. So please, ban to your evil heart's content. This is the worst thing I have read all day...maybe all week. What planet are you living on that makes banned items more valuable? It makes them impossible to adopt/use without facing legal implications.

What planet are you living on that makes banned items more valuable? It makes them impossible to adopt/use without facing legal implications. You clearly have no idea of anything (in a good way?). Banning something makes it harder to obtain, and therefore, more valuable. That doesn't mean I agree with the OP, though, I am just claiming you would usually be wrong. Most items actually do increase in value when prohibited.

What planet are you living on that makes banned items more valuable? It makes them impossible to adopt/use without facing legal implications. You're a moron of epic proportions average American. Marijuana is more expensive where it is still illegal, but an actual example shouldn't be needed where common sense should suffice. Good things don't need to be "legal" for people to want to use them. Bitcoin doesn't need government approval any more than weed does.
