I think the exchange should have the most known coins and tokens. As fast as possible input output. Have good,fast technical support . A very big plus if the exchange has fiat (deposit and Withdraw).

Just like any other business, you just give people what they want. Good service, good support, and low fees are enough to get you a long way. The market has a tendency to reward good businesses.

This may or may not be a good idea and may even be impossible depending on where you plan to operate from, but you could also not implement KYC procedures. Lots of people seem to avoid them.

what I'm looking for a crypto exchange is an exchange with good technical analysis charting that's why I never use etherdelta their chart sucks, its useless by any mean. another one is having a stable base currency as an option like USDT, TUSD, USD.... with a lot of pairing. it's easier to TA and safe on bear markets. I also want to see gain and loss summary on the user profile to monitor our progress. a free trading fee from start like 500 USD/ 1 eth/1 BTC. will help you to gain more users.

First of all, you should have a great product(in your case crypto exchange) and then start doing marketing. Ask yourself in what area is your exchange better than those of competitors. So I recommend you focusing at the beginning on quality of your product and then dealing with marketing.

This is a decent article on what you need to start your own crypto exchange. It is not easy to do, and as I'm sure you are aware, even more difficult to make it a success. You will need a good team around you, a decent marketing budget, and a clear vision of which demographic you are attempting to capture. Not impossible, but definitely not easy.
