Did you make a report to your bank? I wouldn't leave the money with Juan if your not getting a product from him. I'm trying a different distributor for my s3+ and hoping a bitcoin spike won't occur until after I've got my machines.

I just hope if your miner dies in the next 30 days the person you bought from amazon has some skill to fix it.
It was an attempted credit card purchase (as per original Juan provided instructions) -- required he OK the transaction but he chose to simply ignore it.  The seller was a miner who was selling off a rack full of supposedly not o/c'd S3s (at least 16 units).  Don't know if he was getting out of the game or switching to S3+, though I don't really see much advantage in that, only a slight increase in productivity and efficiency at the cost of a month's mining.

The S3 is in great condition and came up perfectly (no issues outside of my first timer learning curve, all ASICs good, 441KH/s, HWcalc gives .0015%), I'm not o/c'ing either (don't even know how to access the clock yet).  To lose a month of mining for the sake of the S3+ seems much more a loss than a gain.  Because of that month, I'm tempted to see if I can find another stash of used S3s at a reasonable price, perhaps a better plan than just waiting.  I see a few S3s plus a lot of S3+ pre-orders have shown up on Ebay -- many S3+ have great prices but are also indicating possible long handling times, wonder if they're being used to mine for a few weeks before forwarding?  I'm new to all this!

Overclocking is easy enough with v3 firmware on bitmaintech website. The v3 has a pull down menu for speeds. There is an s3 support page somewhere around here and someone will know whats going on if you don't.

If your seeing them on ebay it probably means its time to buy the s3+ through proper channels. I'd just hope if there's a push there them there I'd get a good price if the s3+'s dc controller improves hashing for future overclocking to sell my s3-. S4 can't be that far behind if they can keep prices down.

Just make sure credit card or not that if he charges you make sure you jump him so you don't have a second one unintentionally.

I've an order in for one S3+ via a WA dealer who has excellent Ebay feedback, but am considering getting a third miner, either S3 or S3+.  S3 attraction being saving a couple weeks.  (Am expecting a couple power supplies to show up Friday.)

Just remember to leave feedback afterward Roll Eyes. I sold my s1 before the announcement on ebay and they didn't leave me feedback as of yet Cry. That seems to be a trend on expensive items  Undecided.

Yeah, that's a drag.  The WA dealer I ordered from has expanded from Ebay and is now taking direct orders via their website, no feedback involved.  Am currently attempting to close on a pre-batch eight S3.  Sure, I can choose to go with a future S3+, but is that really a better choice than an immediately available S3?

PS. There's been a volcanic eruption in Iceland -- perhaps there's a downside to setting up mining operations there?

A reputable Bitmain Antminer dealer is offering $380 shipped for a current version S3, is there any reason whatsoever why I should consider waiting for an S3+ (regardless of dealer?)  What is the advantage?

S3+ is cheaper with 10 extra hashing  and opertuninistic  500 gh overclock. Bitmaintech is charging in bitcoin so unless on the 20th they ask for the difference bitcoin is cheaper right now.

I  made the mistake of asking family members and I'll probably end up with paper stock instead of an s3+ so grab that offer before I do..

It is a difficult decision as the S3 is nice being so power efficient and easy to use and deploy.
I know I cannot decide either.  Huh

Overclocking is easy enough with v3 firmware on bitmaintech website. The v3 has a pull down menu for speeds. There is an s3 support page somewhere around here and someone will know whats going on if you don't.
Installed the latest FW on my used b1 and shortly after noticed the fans were louder than usual.  Checked status and found it hashing at 500GH/s -- yikes!  Found the clock menu and it provides no options between stock and 500GH/s, so am back to 441 GH/s and reading through the support thread!

Finally decided to pick up an S3+ for a total of two, but am considering another S3 as well -- just isn't a whole lot of difference between them and arrives much sooner.

At least you know you can push them.
Did the reject rate stay low?

A reputable Bitmain Antminer dealer is offering $380 shipped for a current version S3, is there any reason whatsoever why I should consider waiting for an S3+ (regardless of dealer?)  What is the advantage?
S3+ is cheaper with 10 extra hashing  and opertuninistic  500 gh overclock. Bitmaintech is charging in bitcoin so unless on the 20th they ask for the difference bitcoin is cheaper right now.

I  made the mistake of asking family members and I'll probably end up with paper stock instead of an s3+ so grab that offer before I do..
Bah! Current S3 is actually $390 shipped!  Decisions, decisions!  Undecided
Finally decided to pick up an S3+ for a total of two, but am considering another S3 as well -- just isn't a whole lot of difference between them and arrives much sooner.

At least you know you can push them.
Did the reject rate stay low?

Overclocking is easy enough with v3 firmware on bitmaintech website. The v3 has a pull down menu for speeds. There is an s3 support page somewhere around here and someone will know whats going on if you don't.
Installed the latest FW on my used b1 and shortly after noticed the fans were louder than usual.  Checked status and found it hashing at 500GH/s -- yikes!  Found the clock menu and it provides no options between stock and 500GH/s, so am back to 441 GH/s and reading through the support thread!  At least, status wasn't indicating HW issues Smiley!
Before seeing your post, I retried the 500GH/s clock and looked more closely.  The ASIC status display was OK, but then I realized the HW count was growing kinda fast.  Calculated it out and dropped the speed back to stock again.  500GH/s appears too high for it, though can probably reach something a little more modest.  Unfortunately, appears I can't access other o/c values via Windows, only via Linux Sad!

That is how I overclocked was to SSH in.
They are beasts though they are easy to use and just keep going.  It is too bad the HW got so high it would have been nice to hear yours just ran at 500.

I'm expecting another used b1 S3 from the same source to arrive later this week.  I may try struggling with Linux to see what stable o/c they reach -- not looking for a big push, but something modest would be nice Smiley!  From reading the o/c thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699064.40), appears many were unable to achieve any o/c at all, and some were actually a tad low.  HW errors but ASICs OK suggests inadequate voltage which likely points to that Bitmain reported DCtoDC issue (unless my stand-in 600W single rail 46A@12V PS isn't hacking it).  Interested to see how this next one behaves.

Hey Juan!

How about explaining exactly why you refuse to remove my multiply requested canceled order #1418 placed July 30th for S3 batch 5 specifically for CC purchase via your specified Escrow.com account!  Is this just your way of saying fuck you?

Hey "Juan",

Care to explain why my batch 5 order has been on hold since I placed it, even after the bank transfer successfully completed, and no response to multiple emails and posts in this thread? Is this also just your special way of saying fuck you, by happily accepting my money then going on to utterly fail to even communicate let alone deliver the product?

Beware all, "Juan" is a scam artist or possibly the worlds most incompetent businessman.
