From my understanding, Case Wallet and XZEN both have an extra device to carry in order to authenticate the fingerprint of the user. As for Unikeys, no extra devices are needed - the biometric sensor is directly embedded on the UKey card which makes life so much easier and more secure. The card supports bluetooth & NFC and a all-in-one payment solution allowing users to store, spend, receive and exchange multiple cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, ERC20 Tokens and Unikeys Tokens.

One of the key advantages that I picked up on, was that stolen or lost cards cannot be used without the owner of the card being present. It's something hard to achieve and probably not worth it. Adding more coins will just mean that they are focusing in quantity over quality and in this case there will be bugs. It's better to support the most used coins and then expand from there slowly.

In case the UKey card is stolen or damaged, they can always order a new card and restore
their original wallet. Once they receive the new UKey card, they need to launch the Unikeys Wallet application to restore the wallet with their smartphones. Users need to take their recovery
sheet and type the backup seed. After defining a new pincode and pairing the new UKey card on
their smartphone, their wallet can be fully be recovered.

I have used and tested a lot of fingerprint scanners before and these devices gets dirty and some even fail over time. If the user lose their seed and this device fails, would you be able to "repair" the scanner or recover the data from this device?

I am also curious on how the card is powered to enable the fingerprint scanner to work? Will it derive the power from the slot where it is inserted or from the card?

If you protect the card well, the fingerprint sensor should work just fine. In case if the user loses their seeds and the device fails, there is no way you could repair it at the moment.
As for the fingerprint scanner, there is a battery embedded inside the card and you need about 2 hours to let it fully charged and can then be used for up to 400 times.

When will it be available for purchase?

The card is available to reserve in Sep/Oct once the public token sales is done and we are expecting to deliver the UKey cards in Q1 2019. The dates have not been finalised but won't be very long and we promise all our cards will be ready and usable once the date is confirmed.

What this differs from Case Wallet or XZEN ? 

My understanding is that Case Wallet does not exist anymore --> (https://bitsonline.com/case-wallet-device-shutdown/), so I will not comment on this.

For XZEN, I think the device and the wristband look nice aesthetically but I don't think it is ideal to carry it around because it is quite big in size and looks clumsy. I believe both devices need to be charged very often and the price to purchase that is also quite high. I also realised one thing is that they said their pre-ICO was in Nov 2017 but then nothing is announced ever since.. It's been nearly a year! I find it really strange....

For Unikeys, client's needs are our number one priority and we believe simple is best. We have designed the UKey card, the exact size of your debit or credit cards, for our clients to do all crypto-transactions. Unlike XZEN where you have to carry the device every time, our clients only need to bring along the UKey card and to authenticate the transactions, just simply swipe their fingerprints on the sensor embedded into the card and you are done. It is more ergonomically friendly and hassle-free. The card can also be used up to 400 times until the next recharge so I believe they cannot last that long...

This is some really great hardware, with patented tech!

Not sure about the need for the tokens though, and the per-transaction fee. Assuming the unikeys merchant thing never takes off (honestly it probably won't) they still want you to buy their Unikeys tokens just to buy the hardware. I doubt that will continue longterm. They're going to need to sell these things on amazon for $.

But as just a hardware wallet with biometrics, great idea and I'd probably use it.

I believe he meant the 'biometrics" feature but If nothing is sent to your servers and everything is done locally, I don't see an issue here.

Nothing will be sent to the server. The "Biometrics", or the "private key" will always be stored in the cold wallets.

I'm sure it will work, technically speaking. But the adoption rate is going to be a big challenge. Unless every merchant is using it, nobody will want to use it. There are just too many other crypto payment solutions vying for attention... Just start simple and sell the biometric hardware wallet for $ :p

Yes we believe the adoption will be very challenging yet we are still confident that our products will bring a significant impact to many people's daily lives (in a good way of course!) Every business has challenges and competitions so if we stay focus and establish the brand well I believe it will be very successful!
