I total agree with this opinion!
We can only compare somethings that's quite similar.
I agree., both currencies have different use case anyway., so they are different. but talking about their popularity and mass acceptance., i would say that bitcoin still the number 1 which is followed by ethereum. In line with this., both of them are the best investment good for long term. Trading is the best way to make a profit., and in fact everybody does. In regards to their use case., i agree on your statement., but both of this currencies are recommended., without ethereum there would be no and less tokens and coins exist nowadays. I do not agree and I think ethereum is better. Obviously they are different but you can still compare them, they are cryptocurrencies after all. Bitcoin has a sentimental value now but what is the real value? It's digital gold, it has no real use besides buying other cryptocurrencies, which is what makes this whole market 1 big coin, everytime you want to buy another coin you have to go through bitcoin first or at least to one of the main cryptos. If Bitcoin didn't have so many pairs, its price would plummet fast. Ethereum on the other hand is useful, literally dozens of tokens depend on it.

this is WRONG on both accounts! bitcoin has nothing to do with gold and it is not even like it. bitcoin is a currency so if you want to call it anything you should call it something like "digital USD" or something like that. as for Ethereum, it is not the best smart contract platform it is just the most hyped up one. there are a lot of better platforms with higher security and less centralization. |

If we are talking about real value then bitcoin should have a greater value since we can also say the same, Ethereum wouldn't reach its peak without the help of those crappy ICO's and useless tokens(most of them) that can be bought using their coin whereas bitcoin can be used to pay for real goods and services online(although it is not always used). who uses bitcoin? No one.
Just look at the marketplace section of this forum, you can find users there using bitcoin as a currency, not as a mere speculative tool. |

Bitcoin has just became a rare speculative holding assets. It's higher price and transaction fees have hindered it's use in day to day transaction. Ethereum is having the same fate though popular as a app and smart contract platform, people are paying higher in transaction fees of token. So, ERC20 tokens too can't be used as a regular currency as well as Ethereum. |

I agree with . Why many people compare ethereum with bitcoin I dont know. Obviously the purposes for this two are different from each other. Nakamoto invented bitcoin because he wanted to make an alternative medium of exchange which is also digital and virtual. So bitcoin is just a digital version of money or can be said digital gold also. Whether Ethereum is a platform for smart contracts.

Bitcoin number one, while we (society, supporters, communities) think so, if we choose something different for ourselves, then number one will be different. Ethereum has such popularity only because its platform carries a lot of ICO projects. Now he has a lot of competition. I think the number 2 in the near future will deal with another currency, because the popularity of the Ethereum will pass to its competitors.

Indeed. Bitcoin was made for the first time, when it was made then it was sure its the first and obviously last of its kind. Then after whatever came was called as alternate to it and thats why the name alternate currencies. I guess crypto currency other than bitcoin are just useful in their own sphere and some of them trying to bridge the real world. They are different but they are in their own space only. Bitcoin is like something that catches the attention of almost every other person in the world and everyone starts their crypto career with BTC as digital gateway for it.  |

Finally someone making this thread,i just don't get it with those who still comparing ethereum to the bitcoin, they are totally different ethereum was made as a compelement for the bitcoin itself. Let's compare ethereum to the EOS or another smart contract platform that's gonna be fair, instead of comparing these platforms why not support them.

Already many time asked the same question and every time Bitcoin is won the match so Bitcoin is ruling community no one is beat the Bitcoin in forever. I think if you compare in ETH vs NEO you will find the best result because both are well performed in this industry. My support is both Ethereum and Bitcoin so no need for comparison.

Back in 2008 Satoshi nakamoto's whitepaper presented a financial system which is completely decentralized and it has no authorization of banks or government. So basically he invented it for the purpose of the free movement of money. Ethereum is different platform which enables Smart contracts and DApps to run without any interruption from third party.

I agree with you. I also think that both of these are different from each other in most of the operational issue. And they are moving on their own way. However, I also have found some similarities between them. Both of them are a form of cryptocurrency. They are used by traders as a form of investment and payment option. And when one falls another also face the imoact.

No doubt both the coins are promising but BTC is superior than ETH in terms of community support.BTC is market champion and entire crypto price is dependent upon BTC.ETH has technological superiority over BTC.In future years ETH will certainly overcome BTC.In the end both are coins are solid for investment perspective. |
