A question about some email spammers

I signed up for some airdrops where the spreadsheets make everyone's email public. There have been a few users who take those lists and then spam everyone's email with other airdrops/referrals, etc.

I've been able to trace which users are doing this and the airdrops they got the emails from pretty easily. My question is, is this something that users can still get banned for on bitcointalk even though the main spamming took place outside of the forum? And if so, what is the correct way to go about reporting it? Thanks!

I don't think so. There aren't any rules against this.

And if this is happening outside the forum, there is nothing the mods can do.

Nah, nothing can be done. Unless, they are sending their advertisement spam via personal messages the forum will not get involved in external issues. It would be better to bring this up via a thread in the reputation section outlining those that are doing this.

Are the people who are sending you the emails newbies? If yes, then it is a lost cause, because even if DT members tag them, they'd create more accounts and more emails to spam your mail. Just block the emails. The mods or admins won't be able to do anything. If they are high ranked members(Full Member and above), like welsh said, create a thread in reputation and list the people sending you those emails with valid proof.

Being manager of one of such bounties where email addresses are listed openly, I can tell you it's not really upto the bitcointalk folks or the managers to act upon it. I have told the team several times about keethe ping the emails hidden or not requiring them for joining bounties, the upper level management strictly denied the proposal and have asked for the emails to send them updates about the ICO. However, no one is forced to join bounties, if you're very much concerned about your email going public, you can either create a new one for the sake of the bounties or not participate at all. The truth is, bounty participants don't care.

If you get an promotional email on bitcointalk, you can report them to the moderator.

If you are able to track them, I think you can block the spammer email to get into your email address and list them publicly in this forum to be known by this forum members. I think that's all you can do since they can't be punished by spamming outside of this forum even they utilize the spreadsheet from airdrop or bounties from here. As  Joel_Jantsen said, submitting the email is the willing of participants even they have the other option to not participate on airdrop which is submitting the email. I think that is the consequences of submitting the email address in aware publicly.

next time you are signing up for airdrop, use disposable email address
so when you get spammed in that mailbox you can just abandon it and create new one 
You should stay away from airdrop that requires personal data,
if they want to do airdrop they only need a crypto address to send airdrop amount

bitcointalk admin won't touch it, but DT members might tag them
the only thing you can do is ignore or block the spammer

Spamming you through email has nothing to do with bitcointalk, in as much as they are not doing it on bitcointalk, if you don't want them to keep spamming you email every now and then,  stop registering Airdrops with your email address

These clients doesn't realize that they might actually pushing away good & brainy participants into their project with such lame rules.
How hard is it to just hide the email address column in public and make it visible only on spreadsheet owner and staffs.

I've only experienced this once and it's my fault that I didn't check the available info on spreadsheet.
After some attempts for a change request, I ended up quitting the campaign because both the manager and other co-participants are unresponsive. It's such a waste.
