Special Hero question

I'm just curious...
Is it possible to know that:
If I had already earned the necessary 1000 merits (haven't, but theoretically) I would have become a Legendary or not, based on the current activity count?
Because I have already 910 activities, that means a possible legendary rank if we don't mind the merits.
I know that I'm really far away from the Legendary rank, but I'm still curious to know if it's possible to check if it's only the merits that are missing, or I still haven't reached my necessary activity count too.
I know that getting the answer won't change the whole situation at all, but curiosity is a hard thing to deal with

Guess ,you haven't reached the necessary activity count as the Ranking changed and merits was implemented into the system !  

So the only way to reach the Goal for Legendary is to post some productive and good Posts to get maybe Merits for them , if you have 1000 Merits , Rank will change !

If you reach this Goal your Rank will be upgraded to Legendary  !

My account being a perfect example here. I had 1000 default merit and I think activity as same as the OP but I did not reach the legendary rank. Like you said it's random when one becomes a legendary while activity being in the scale of 950-1030.
@OP, you have a long way to go.Gaining 500 merits would take a few months unless you do something extraordinary.

It could be in the next week as well as it's totally random.Anyway, I honestly don't think it's a big deal to rank up because one can easily buy a legendary account for a couple of hundreds out there.Thank you though!

I don't know what cave you have been living under but my merits are displayed right there! Minimum required merits to become a legendary are 1000 and if you look at my merits, you shall see I'm pass that.

When people tell you,"Post in meta dude.. You'll get merits easily..." And then you come here saying crap without knowing anything. Nice. You could never actually estimate at what level of activity you'd turn into legendary, even before the merit system. People could see the potential activity(the real activity level if an user had posted 14 posts every 2 weeks to estimate) from achow101's website(which is down indefinitely due to clouldfare) but they could never see when a person would turn into legendary. I got legendary rank at around 1000 activity. It differs from user to user, don't know why only legendary accounts have that floating activity rate.

Your current merit 570 and activity 910.  According to theymos 775 to 1030 activity you need.

Legendary occurs randomly between 775 and 1030 activity
 

So if you have now 1000 merit there is possibility become Legendary member. Anyway you need more 430 merit.

Once your merit will reach 1000 then I believe your activity will more then 1200. Because you need make many post for earn merit. So there is no doubed you will be legendary when approach 1000 merit.

I got legendary rank at around 1000 activity. It differs from user to user, don't know why only legendary accounts have that floating activity rate.

I wonder if it is random, or under admin control. I noticed that a couple of members became legendaries at around 800 activity, and this was just before the merit system was introduced. I think they probably deserved the uprank, but it does make one wonder if there is a bit of admin control over the process.

Human nature is strange, I didn't really bother about becoming a legendary, but now that I can see the door in front of me ( it's still closed though ), I've started to watch the counts. I'm not sure what benefits there are with being a legendary, other than the oxidation of my last coin.

I never saw Hero member ranked up to Legendary lately (or I just missed them). Looks like Mr. Joel_Jantsen is the first one from Hero to Legendary who will rank up in time. Congratulating you as well Mr.
But, I really thought you're already a Legendary, I often saw your posts but I never noticed that your still a Hero, maybe it's because the number of Activity and Merits attracts my eyes that's why I thought you're a Legendary.
By the way, I don't know if you're a moderator or not but the way you help the forum is more similar to a Moderator. I acknowledged such persons like you.

To OP, sorry if I'm off-topic. But I would like to tell you something since I already posted here. Just try to reach the amount of Merits required and I can assure you that you will rank up without worrying the activity  You still have 430 merits to go but you will have no trouble receiving it as I can sense that you are also one good poster.

I'm a bit tetchy this morning, as they have turned the power off in the supermarket cafe I'm in at the moment. That means I'm on battery power for the netbook, and I can't run my node,or do some of the website updating I had planned. I could I suppose, but the screen is a bit small, so it is easier to work on the notebook.

I'm not sure why Joel isn't a Legendary, it looks as if he should have been promoted. What happened to TMAN, wasn't he a hero a month or two ago, and he should be Legendary now?

The Changes from Hero to Legendary are not easy to detect, since we cannot solely use Merit and received sMerit as a base to backtrack the changes in rank for these cases.

What I’ve done to derive the above is to compare the most current user profile scrape to that of the previous weeks, and placed a reference date to the data extraction date being used (meaning that the actual ranking should have taken place within the week from the reference date backwards).

The above list is for July 2018 (to go back any further I’d have to look through backups and so forth which I don’t think we really need to go into now).

The minimum activity considered is 952 for these cases, repeated on six occasions (roughly, since the activity is the activity as of 29/06/2018, and not that at the exact moment they changed rank).


There are also some de-ranked Legendries (probably after deleting some posts)  or that have changed to being a Copper Member:

Since the introduction of the merit system, activity count now takes the second place. Even when your activity passes 1030, and your merits are not up to 1000, you will not be upgraded. So work more on getting the required merit than activity.

It is random. It is calculated from a hash of the user id, so without knowing the salt used, you'll not be able to work out when it will happen to any account. I think that sort of answers bitart's question in the OP as well. No, it isn't possible to tell if they would have ranked up if they had the merit.

Your really great as usual. Since the merit system was introduce, why not change it to a fix 1000 merit? It would be a great reward who ever make it by then in which are very few of them.
