This just crossed my mind today, reading about the "huge overnight flash crash" that Bitcoin and crypto markets just experienced. Back in December/January when CME and others were all the headlines for offering futures, they said the crash was coming. It came, and futures like CME traders were largely blamed because of all the short volume.
But today, a 90th ranked South Korean exchange I'd never heard of is blamed because millions were stolen/hacked.
Just tells me that the headlines go for whatever is most convenient.

What is there to add to your messages. Traders on Chicago Board, as well as on all other use rumors and manipulation. Traders always choose a short position to trade. It benefits them. Especially on an asset like bitcoin. Which is so volatile that even the us dollar with the Euro can not be compared. As for the obligations to pay futures, everyone was waiting for the price of bitcoin to be lowered and the buying of bitcoins will begin. But it is too early to draw conclusions, now the trend is turning or not.
