Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver?

I'm not one who would invest in precious metals, but I have noticed that a good amount of the older generations are pretty keen in investing in these metals. They see it as a way to bet against the market, and a security that will always be safe -- even in the times of a market downturn/country failure as a whole.

I personally wouldn't even want to buy these metals in those events, as I don't see the reason to. I'd rather invest in securities that go up when the market shits itself (Payroll lending companies and so on and so forth)

Those millenial person or those old generation people love so much of investing in gold or silver,because this culture is inherited from there own ancestor,thats collecting investment of gold or silver is the main presentation of whats is your status in the community that you are rich,unlike this new generation now,because of the new technology of crypto investment you will also become rich into this figures of integral numbers.

We can say that there are a lot of reasons why older people preferred to invest in gold or silver but in my own opinion I guess that most common reason why they invest there is because they have a luck of knowledge about the internet and in crypt currencies. We all know that the technology that are beeing used in crypt are so modern which those old people don't know. But I guess if this modern technology had come out earlier together with gold and silver investment the older people will go with crypt currencies rather than gold or silver.

I think it's just people who have old thoughts who are still investing in precious metals .. there are several reasons that I can not mention all ..
other than what I stated earlier.
- invest in precious metals ,, more visible
- some people are not interested in investment
- they feel great,
- the limitations of the trkologi and the environment are the factors that I might describe

yes, people who prefer to invest in gold and silver reflect that person's lack of insight into existing modern technologies and they dare not take the risks they will face if they choose to invest other than gold and silver.

this is the obstacle to the growth of crypto currency .. maybe we should wait until 1 generation of our predecessors perished ,, because they are the less understanding of the digital world .. keterbatidak knowledge they have make us will be difficult to move gold and silver investors to investment digital assets

Well I ask my grandfather why he like investing in Gold and he says that investing in gold for a long term will made you rich because Gold value is always increasing and also it is proven and by alot of people already.

It all depends on the moment you enter as always, and the risk>reward ratio you are willing to expose yourself to.

If you bought Gold like 5 years ago, you are down ~2% plus 5 years worth of loss in purchasing power on top of that. People should accept that Gold in current form just won't perform well to the degree it did years and years ago. It has reached a point at which it will likely continue to stabilize and pretty much swallow everything that governments and other entities throw at it. It's one of the most liquid markets in existence. If people really believe it will increase another 100% in the coming 5-10 years they are delusional.

And then we don't even know what Bitcoin will do as the digital equivalent of Gold. It might very well grab a very large chunk of Gold's market to further suppress it.

This is something which I've attempted to tell my family. I've told them, there is only so much that Gold can go up. People aren't buying it in boatloads like they used to as the new generation isn't keen on buying things like that, we're more keen on buying either traditional investments (stocks, bonds, etc) or getting into risky things such as Crypto stuff (I'm not going to say that's all people, but I would say a good portion of this new generation likes these 'new investments'

Because they are old as you said,an older people most of them are recognized the gold and silver are most valuable metals,that's why they prefer to invest with full trust to have earn more profits. Because,gold/silver continuously growing up the value annually.

I suppose this is true, I would add on the fact that the old generation has seen the markets crash during the times of financial panic and don't want to get involved with such risky things such as Stocks/Bonds as they (could have) lost tons of money in these times.

I think the reason is very simple, because it was in the past investment in gold or silver Very profitable and also very safe, different from the current and of course older people will not immediately believe in other investments

Older people like investing in Gold because gold is one of the oldest investment solutions that have been preferred by all the investors. Investors from all around the globe have a theory in their mind that there is no better way of keeping their money safe than buying gold.

 The gold market has the record of staying high for a long period of time. You can simply keep the gold with you and sell it whenever you get perfect rates for it.

The most popular type of investment people who are old is, Property, Land, Gold/Silver and Deposito.
I once asked my parents "why do you like investing in House (Property) and Gold", then he replied "because house price and gold/silver will not go down and only invest in both that I know give a lot of profit".

Because they all know that those are solid commodities in where you can invest for a long term and you are not going to lose money by having your budget in there, they are safe, that is why they prefer it over some other new technologies

Gold and silver has being in existence for several decade, with value over the years, it is a natural resources that has remain relevant till date in value and worth, the older generation usually buy and keep Gold and Silver as a form of  investment, base on the profit generated over the years from both Gold and silver, it has been proven and trusted, unlike the cryptocurrency technology that is some what like an abstract, which can only be understand and fathom by a younger mind.

gold is a usable asset worldwide. and the price will not affect the inflation within a country. so this gold asset is the safest asset but the price also tends to flat. usually gold is used for long-term investments or within a certain period. so I think they keep investing in gold to saving their value of their wealth at any time and any where .
not much knowing why people loving metals but this can be reason of collectible hobbies .

I believe in summary the reason for the older people going more for gold investment rather than the new age cryptocurrency investment is mainly because gold investment has proofed itself over the years running into decades with little or no risk involved unlike cryptocurrency with some level of high risk involved. Also, having this summary that experience is the best teacher!

It may come to that but it already been the same or even have a greater value than gold. As long as you, yourself, is the only responsible for your investments then we can tell that the risk of investing through crypto is on a little bit hooked up.

Cryptocurrency is the digital currency for new era and old people do not believe in crypto, therefore they want to invest in gold and silver. Everyone in this world wants to buy as much gold as he can, it’s not only old people, the reason is this that gold and silver are the actual money and all others are the different shapes of money. Crypto is also one of them.

I think it's related to the risk vs return. Gold "Investment" is an "investment" with very low risk. I use quotes because gold is more of a hedging tool, not an investment tool. They will be more risk-averse as they get older, this is because they cannot recover from the investment losses like when they were young. While when we were young, we tend to be more risk-taking, because we can work harder to recover our losses.

In gold investment there is no risk because the price of gold also increases with the passage of time and there are no huge dips in the price. gold will not take you in debts and you cannot lose all your gold if the price falls too much. On the other hand cryptocurrency is full of risks, but it is also a fact that big risks give big profits. Gold cannot give you such profits.
