Japanese internet giant GMO has launched a new, upgraded model of its bitcoin miner equipped with 7nm ASIC mining chips. The previous model was sold out. The new model can achieve a higher hash rate and has a “hash power optimization function.” It is for sale at the same price as the previous model.

While the B2 model has a hash power of 24TH/s, the B3 model has a maximum hash power of 33TH/s, “which is much better than our existing products,” the company described, elaborating:

"The major characteristics of GMO miner B3 are that it has the maximum hash power of 33 TH/s as well as can adjust the hash power optimally up to 33TH/s depending on the mining environment and global hash rate."

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

The price tag for each GMO miner B2 unit, launched on June 6, was $1,999.

The B3 model will be sold at the same price as the B2 model.

So, that's a 37.5% increase in hashing power -- 33TH/s for $1,999 -- but power consumption has also increased to 103W per TH/s.

Let's see how it compares to Bitmain.

Quote
By comparison, the current market leader – Bitmain's Antminer S9 – offers 14TH/s at a power consumption of around 1,300W.
[...] That's compared with $837 for the Antminer S9.

Looks like Bitmain still edges out GMO in terms of both output and power consumption. But it's close -- less than a $1 per TH/s and ~ 10W per TH/s. Seems like good progress in the battle to chip away at Bitmain's market share.

More hashing power, but more electricity consumption at the same price.I don`t see any improvement of the efficiency.I want less electricity consumption and a cheaper price,so Bitmain remains my number one choice.
The bitcoin miners are getting more and more powerful, but that isn`t actually a good thing for the environment.

Is there a reason for bitcoin dot com articles to be here at all?

All you're doing is promoting traffic to Roger Ver's site -- the same individual that is actively trying to usurp Bitcoin.

Why are you helping him?

No major news site except Bitcoin.com covered the retail launch of the B3 miner, so it appears to be the only legitimate source. Roger's a dick, but I don't see the big deal.

In all honesty, the news section of Bitcoin.com seems no worse than Coindesk, and it's better than all the click-bait sites (Cryptocoins News and CoinTelegraph come to mind).

So ethics aside, just keep on giving him views and revenue.

Efficiency aside people in the mining speculation thread are concerned about the heat and they do have a point.
That's 3,417W in a metal box with 4 fans trying desperately to prevent a meltdown.
Probably the noise will be insane and you're going to need extra cooling compared to the S9 or far better airflow.
Disappointing...especially coming from a large company, not a 2 men one garage start-up.

PS.
Shipping November 2018, in BTC time that's 2-3 years.

This is all what we wanted but we would need to deal on whats available on the market as of now. Checking out that new miner it doesn't really make any difference at all.It do have higher hash but same goes with the consumption too.Pointless

He has a fair point though. The only thing the articles posted on this forum are doing is pointing traffic to Roger's site. That site is on purposely misleading people into thinking they are dealing with Bitcoin.

If you click on the links, they refer you to Bcash content, and they also scammed plenty of people with their app tricking people into thinking they are dealing with Bitcoin, but again was Bcash.

On their buy page they state:

Buy Bitcoin Cash * recommended.

Buy Bitcoin Core.

The article they link to, which they call what is Bitcoin, is full of nonsense and rubbish that just point out their hate towards Bitcoin, or Bitcoin Core as they like to call it.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

Some people have a backbone and stand up to unscrupulous deeds, others either do nothing or provide aid.

I know what side I'm on, and it will never be with a con-man like Ver.

Yes, im fully aware on that thing regarding on that shitty site made by Ver and his misleading informations that do purely opposes bitcoin name or reputation.
If you do hate him soo much,im on the same side. Dont know why some people do keep posting our direct links from that site lets say other news source sites do sucks compared to forum.bitcoin but i would prefer it rather than on this one.
For us people who do knows on Ver's upto, most likely we do have the same impressions.
