Disclaimer
My focus is on helping newbies to Hero members who need merits to rank up. Legendary - by default your posts are well constructed (not joke but truth in most cases. Not bringing your link here does not mean that I ignored your posts. Most of the time I find the most values from your posts tbh. I hope it's understandable). Screw it (!) the rank does not matter. I tried try to stay unbiased, no priority for the post which I agree/like. Also, please don't give me merit on this thread. I don't want to be the part of any controversy. I am happy about my other posts which are enough to receive merits.

I spend almost whole day on the forum. I read, write, learn, help others, start unnecessary fights when I get annoyed, fighting against abusers/spammers, offering small services for the community etc. Bottom line - I am a very active member, trying to improve the forum experience for the community. Here is a reference to support my claim:

I started on December 14th 2017, started with 0 merits and became a full member (so far) only few weeks ago. My forum logged time is over 40 days and 20 hours while I am composing this topic. That's quite high ratio for anyone I believe.

Anyway, let's get to the point. Member like me stumble upon a lot of posts which are merit worthy. But since I do not have enough sMerits (in most cases 0), I can not do anything. And those merit worthy posts get unnoticed for good. I was observing the recent invention of Jet Cash. Wonderful idea however I was missing something and I was not sure about it (missing) too. As a result, I did not make any suggestion yet. Besides, I am not a merit source or a member with lots of sMerits, so - I do not actually know which shoes they have on their foot. After reading LoyceV - I realized what I was missing. I am having same feeling (mix reaction) for theymos's latest topic as well. So, I have not yet made any input there.

Let's get back to the merit worthy posts. Since, I stumble upon to a lot of good posts everyday and fail to merit them all the time - I feel a bit injustice for them. I am not talking about those repetitive posts like how to add image/how to do this/how to do that etc type posts. I am also not talking about only the very high quality/top-notch type posts too. I am talking about posts which are just good enough and above. Or a post which is very average but to the point. Of course the variables for justifying a post for me and yours will have deference. I may think a post is very high quality but you may find it very average. The variables are relative but I think in most cases - it is not too hard to be on the same page.

On this topic, I will make a list (will update constantly - replacing the old sets with the new sets) of post those worth receiving merit. If you have available sMerits and/or if you are a merit source looking for good posts to spend your sMerits then feel free to merit the posts from the list. If anyone wants to help me finding good posts then you are welcome to post in the comment section. Remember one thing - do not post your own posts and ask for review. This is not a merit review topic. This topic is more like helping the merit sources to spend their source merits and members who have enough sMerits to spend but can not find posts to merit.

PS: I know we had a topic with the same idea and I had negative stand for it but later I realized the idea IS actually good. This can help members who are constantly looking for merit worthy posts and finding it hard to spend their sMerits. Well-done DireWolfM14

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

Most of the linked posts seem to be about merit. TBH I'm getting merit discussion fatigue, almost to the point where I'm gonna create my own thread complaining about that Grin <-- wide smile to make anything I say completely inoffensive.

Posts in the meta section absolutely should not be merited. In fact, merit should be disabled in this section, as 90% of merit distributed has been to posts discussing the distribution of merit, which is f***ing stupid. I find that for the majority of cases, the only reason people try and make an effort posting here, is so that they can obtain some merit themselves, whilst thinly veiling it as an attempt to help others.

Most of the linked posts seem to be about merit. TBH I'm getting merit discussion fatigue, almost to the point where I'm gonna create my own thread complaining about that Grin <-- wide smile to make anything I say completely inoffensive.

The Meta section has literally become the sneakily post to obtain merit section. What is the point of the meta section when it's now primary purpose is discussing merit.... Might as well just make a merit section too, oh and a subsection for those pseudo-helping others for their own hopeful gains.

I've always been against what I call the soup kitchen threads, and I make a point of not looking at any of the suggested posts. I prefer to hunt for posts to merit or ignore, and I do get to read a few interesting threads as a result. It is a bit time consuming though.

Yesterday, when the OP had 10 links, I checked them all but didn't think any of them deserved more merit than they had already.

Guys, this is still work in progress and I am learning. I will have sets for everyday. Today I will have new set before I hit my bed. I realize this first set from yesterday were all (10/12) about merit after reading suchmoon, Parodium. After reading LoyceV, I see that I failed massively on my first day of school Cheesy I will be focusing on variations when I pick the posts from now on. First few days may be I will mess up a little but I am a quick learner and I believe I will improve very soon.

@Don Pedro Dinero: You realize I am not ready yet? I will need to practice this stuffs before I apply and I am taking this as an apprenticeship  Tongue (seriously)

mdayonliner, I think your intentions are very noble and I have a lot of respect for the fact that you went all the way up to Full Member in half a year. I support your proposition for supporting other people. Again: respect.

At some of the other members, I would like to say: quit acting like the Merit Police... Who deserves Merits? Should people give Merits to this or that post? Who is buying Merits? Some have come to the point where they start to not only give their opinion on the value and content of forum posts (which is right), but even criticize the fact that other people are Meriting some posts which they believe shouldn't be Merited. And now I am criticizing THOSE people! Damn I stepped into my own trap!

To these members I would like to point out the fact that the domain name MeritTalk.org is still available.

Oh come on, people, how more absurd can it become???

Or to say it in a Monty Python-fashion kind of way: this is TOO silly now.

Merit is subjective, and I think that's what you are trying to get at, but really there needs to be some sort of standard. For example, a few bounty projects have been merited just to gain favour with the campaign manager. This has also happened on some of the Bitcoin campaigns. There's also been a few merits rewarded for memes or because someone agrees with another users post. This isn't something I like to see merit getting spent on. Of course, we can't stop this, and in reality it's not likely a big problem in the grand scope of things, but its still quite annoying to see.

I totally agree with you.
I'm also getting tired of all those merit threads.
You really are sure about it?  Tongue

Anyway, bump for visibility also new set added on the OP.
Oh yes I'm sure. Are you trying to insinuate something?
Sorry but not everyone is like you, looking for any opportunity to get merits.
I tend to think that people like you, the ones who spend so much time trying to find scammers are usually the biggest ones themselves. They know all the tricks. Why else would you waste your time on such a task?
You're not doing this for the forum lol, you're doing this for yourself.
So yeah I'm tired of all the merit posts, whether it's people asking how to get some, others begging for it or the ones posting useless threads thinking they're gold (that's you). This board would be better if we finally stopped talking about merits.
I just checked your trust rating, how ironic!

Weren't you in red a few days ago btw?
I wonder how easily people start judging someone else when they see a red tag. Don't blame me for your failures. I earned every single of my merits except the very first 4 merits.

FYI while I was composing the entire OP I got red tag in-between. In-between the time I also did other stuffs as well - responded the topic, updated this topic, again updated this topic, PMed hilariousandco (my time is BST) once I noticed the red tag then I posted the OP. it's out of your league, assuming you have never volunteered for a community or place you like. Not everything in our life we do for a return.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

I love the way you see life lol

Failures? Because I got 0 merit, I failed? Well that just says all about the difference between you and me.
You're actually proving my point here. My priorities are sane, yours are not.
And don't compare the shit you do here with real volunteer work.  Roll Eyes

You mentioned your post that u started on December 14th 2017, started with 0 merits and became a full member only few weeks ago. So it is very inspired to me and i think it's also inspired so many others. but we saw so many average post that get so many merits. on the other hand, very quality post get nothing(max case). Though the Taste is may be different. but My question is do u think current merit system is ok for everyone or do u think it would be modified in some cases?
