you are right. Whether the price of BTC or ETH or .. something sharp drop can not judge whether it will or is dying. We can not predict anything, if the BTC price goes down, it can also go up as fast and out as the end of 2017. Unpredictable.

I agree that altcoins are not independent, altcoins can't stand alone without the help of the foundation of all cryptos and that is the bitcoin. Their prices are usually depends on the bitcoin's price, especially those altcoins who paired with BTC in the crypto exchanges.

I completely support your thoughts, this is a good explanation for many newbies who have joined the market recently. Prices depend on market trends, they don't show whether a project is alive or not, many sheetprojects have closed but their tokens are still tradable  Grin

Altcoins depend on Btc and it is not a secret at all. This connection is too hard and I am sure that there could be a lot of problems thanks to it in the future.

How many studying this forum, I see a lot of topics, such as:
"Ethereum is dead?"
"Achieving Etherium$ 15,000 or more this year?"
"The price of Litecoin will reach 400?"
"Why is EOS falling?"And many similar questions.. I want to give an explanation of what is happening... Everyone should understand that individually neither Etherium nor Litecoin, virtually no cryptocurrency will not go against the General mood of the market! That is, where the most important cryptocurrency Bitcoin is sent, all Altcoins follow it. And if now the price of Etherium is 430$, although at the peak reached 1440$, then this does not mean that the Etherium died, and this is primarily due to the fact that Bitcoin at the moment is not worth 20000$, as then, but 6000$. And only Bitcoin begins to come to life, once the entire market is green. I understand that for many this is not news, but I hope this information will be useful to someone...

Of course they are not independent, but that is the same with the stock markets, the bonds and other financial instruments, they all move more or less at the same time.

I think that over time the situation will be better and some altcoins will become independent.

I think most people know this truth, but sometimes they don't want to admit it. When the bitcoin goes up, altcoins may not all follow the step of BTC, but when the bitcoin falls, all the altcoins must fall with this. This is the fact.

Every altcoin bows to the Bitcoin. People who manipulating with Bitcoin are manipulating with every altcoin else. So I guess we can't talk about true independence here. Bitcoin is rightly considered the father of the crypto currency. Another thing is its low level of blockchane and long transactions. They make us think that we should find an alternative.

As followers, altcoins can be said to be independent. As we saw recently, if the price of bitcoin has decreased, the altcoin will also follow. We cannot predict the value of this altcoin. The value is always volatile.

I agree that the altcoins are not independent in the direction they move but they are independent in the percentage they can move.  That's the entire game while playing altcoins.  Which ones will outperform Bitcoin.  You play this game to increase your Satoshi stash.

author of rights. I do not understand how many others have not yet understood this. Even when bitcoin sharply begins to grow - the altcoyins will still fall. The market is determined by father bitcoin

Altcoins are still very dependent on Bitcoin. I noticed a connection - when Bitcoin grows in price, the dependence of alts also grows. It may sounds obvious, but BTC will keep it’s influence as long as it is a market leader.
