Thank you for the help i really appreciate it. This going to take time, lets see if i got time to sync and swap it..

You should be able to send funds without needing to fully sync. You just need to be synced far enough to confirm your existing transactions - whatever it was that got your 142k into your wallet.

is this coin still alive? what's the current status/future plans?
I think it has potential, it was just too early back then but now vegas is adopting to the cryptocurrency scene Smiley

Yes, it can still be mined, transacted, exchanged.

The main issue (as I see it) is that the client will create transactions that a default mining setup will never incorporate into a block - rather than aborting with a "Transaction too large" error - so there is some risk of more complex transactions never confirming. This is not the only coin with the issue.

There are a lot of issues with this coin. The devs are not around much and do not seem to care about vegascoin anymore to do any improvements. They are trying to swap out vgc for an eth token called Vegas, but I do not think that is going well either.

I keep a full node up and still mine occasionally. VGC is still traded at Novaexchage.

thanks for the reply mate(s)! I was thinking maybe the idea needs an overhaul and wanted to think about a concept more deeply but didn't have the time, so just in short, i think the coin still has potential because of the name and the idea to utilize it for the casinos in las vegas. But by just being a payment method there is no big reason for casinos to adopt it when btc etc is available, other than marketing and bonuses which is nice but can be just done with another coin.

How about doing the opposite and making the casinos NEED to adopt this coin. By bringing something new and innovative to rewrite how gambling and playing in casinos is done. Instead of the old systems and the way the different games are built, where i think one needs to trust the casino that the machines or roullette or whatever games are fair or have no tricks (they are probably regulated to make sure of that), or the way the payments are handled etc, bringing the revolution of blockchain, trustless systems and ease of payment processing etc to that industry would make a huge difference. Maybe creating a platform where algorithms of the different games are programmed, the slots give out the percentage of time required, open source to establish trust. the players will be interacting with the games and playing on the platform directly, their winnings directly paid to their chip-address on the blockchain.

I'm just rambling some ideas, but maybe you can see where I'm going with this. I have no concrete brilliant ideas (yet hehe) but maybe together if you think there is a merit to this view maybe we can come up with some cool ideas and a concept for something to be built. in that case yah migrating to ETH or something similar where all needed programming is possible.
what do you think?

hey if we can come up with something cool, maybe the project can be about implementing that and building a Casino in Las Vegas with the new technology, funded by investors in the token, and bringing the revolution to the industry while making profits in the casino and helping other ones to adopt using the technology..

I believe this is the way to go....
I was thinking maybe we need a lightning network so the casinos/gaming machines all have super fast transactions. This could possibly include an exchange (fiat and bitcoin or whatever).... I always imagined in the future a physical crypto exchange location along the lines of what a Vegas sportsbook looks like with the marketcaps/charts up on the wall....

I think the Ethereum idea is way too risky and will slow (or kill) adoption, from what I have heard this coin needs significant more Mining power to support a network like this into the future, I think Solar mining would alleviate the operating costs of mining.... Our network needs to find some way to get the mining happening at that level so network speeds are not hurt anytime when a major miner goes offline or takes a break.

yah i understand Ethereum is also still very slow, 300tx per second but EOS is going to have tens of thousands tx per second. I don't know much about lightning network etc, but I think those are specifications we will need to define at a later stage after we get a clear picture of what the VGC platform should be able to do if we decide to build such a thing.

I'm thinking along the lines of this question: Can we incorporate a Las Vegas casino with all it's different processes onto a programmable blockchain platform (ie with smart contracts)? processes of a casino being the algorithms of the games themselves, receiving payment and handing out chips (probably not needed at all but instead using VGC themselves as the chips for the bets), via the smart contract of a game when it's played and a player wins, the profits are paid to his address automatically etc. I'm not very familiar with casino details, but maybe those of you who know more can provide a better breakdown of the different functionalities of a casino that we would need to build into the VGC environment. And then we can go about it from here..

Like do you guys think such a solution would make the operation of a casino much cheaper if payment processes got automated via smart contracts? Also If the games were incorporated into smart contracts so that anybody can check for the fairness of the games, or create new games, do you think that would be a new good idea for the industry?
If you think so then maybe we can do that, and then either partnering with casinos or opening one of our own using this new tech, with much lower costs because the entire casino could be automated no need for much personnel and it would be attractive to customers because of the shiny new world it offers. Maybe at some point in the future they will be gathered around a virtual table of roulette or some new games created by the community using VGC Smiley

Earlier, i said  i think we need a lightning network but after reading more about what a lightning network actually is, I think it needs to be more like a central bank (i said lightning network because the system needs to be able to verify transactions instantly, these transactions could be broadcast to the VGC blockchain but since they are accounted for centrally (or using some type of sidechain to track all transactions/accounts). users dont need to wait for confirmations.)

I like the idea of games using ethereum. But if these tokens are going to pay out there needs to be some sensible accounting plan.
If the central bank also offers a coin exchange and payment processing and accounting, there are a lot of options, most casinos have a club card that holds their points. each person can have all their various tokens on the card. A lot of ways that could go.

i would like to see it get to that point when people come on vacation, keep coins in an account and the following year and their money is worth more and they come back. It could really become a thing.

yah VegasCoins on your VGC card to use at the casinos while verifying and seeing the transactions on your mobile. even gambling in the casinos without being there using your phone and apps and your VGC. I don't know if there is power behind this coin, what are the devs upto, is there community support? I mean this thread is since 2014 and only 22 pages to now. the idea is novel and could get somewhere if serious development and support were behind it, otherwise, the next big thing is being developed already somewhere else and VGC will be obsolete soon..

we were on cryptocointalk for a while just because thats where discussion was happening. so there are less posts here than probably should be.

interesting, so maybe should join the discussion there but kinda too much work for me Roll Eyes any interesting developments there?

Good day! Could you tell us the current pool for mining. All the pools in this thread that were written earlier are not working at the moment. Thanks for the answer

yah VegasCoins on your VGC card to use at the casinos while verifying and seeing the transactions on your mobile. even gambling in the casinos without being there using your phone and apps and your VGC.

I read back through your posts and like those ideas creating new ways to gamble, it could be integrated throughout.... going further with my idea of a "central bank" (critical for long term mass adoption, so that cards/accounts available to be used by anyone)... the casino could release or help release new currencies (ultra fair launches so people would become long term supporters), get the best developers, and go big, pre-announce all launches, etc... the exchange could have investment funds running bots, people could "bet" (trade) on activity or lend/bet on trading bots/funds, etc, etc... so there would be a crypto banking aspect.... A "Central Bank" is the only way to protect the currency and make it useable for anyone. It could start out as an online website like a VGC paypal to start. but the more focus on security regular people will get interested much faster. The website could transition to a more secure physical location along the lines of a bank(or casino) with actual vaults for cold storage. This will have to be state of the art security with monitored/controlled access, etc. This is why I originally had faith in this coin. with exchanges like Mt. Gox going down and shady things happening at these exchanges, VEGAS would require many rules to be followed and take security very seriously, like casinos and banks do. If this is ever adopted locally at that scale it will have to follow the rules as a business and be transparent and ULTRA secure. with good security and stability will come serious growth.

what would be cool is if these companies/programs like Bitconnect and Control Finance existed that were more transparent and legally(?) committed so that earnings COULD be guaranteed.... this all would only work if we could find ways to HARDCODE WEALTH/GROWTH into the system so anyone investing will earn... and yes this could be done if we consider something like a tax that gets broken up into various ongoing expenses (this could be applied to rewards for gamblers like progressive jackpot bonuses, comps, etc.).... Las Vegas has gambling machines called "MEGABUCKS" which is a Progressive Jackpot and so when those jackpots build up, its on the news and TONS of people (including locals) line up to play.... Its almost like the state lotteries when the jackpot gets big.

That kind of stuff would need people familiar with banking/casinos/gaming machines...

I wont give up hope on this coin. I hear there will be more work done by the devs, when time/economy permits... I am sure with all of these controlling factors, it becomes 100x more important to be cautious and thoughtful when considering any type of update to the client... In the meantime, I will be starting work on my websites and accept VGC, I have done a lot of prep work already but its just a big website...

One other thing is when we reach 100 million coins miners are going to be mining tx fees (i think), so mining is going to be an interesting factor affecting price... you see how much work is involved here, everybody should stop assuming its dead, its trading at Novaexchange now.

yah definitely lots of potential there, also just because the market is so enticing, a lot of other projects have come out since VGC and still coming up now using ETH etc. in the end it's about getting it right, but I don't see the devs here, I don't know if anybody is still standing behind this coin apart from some enthusiastic community members but we need devs to move things forward. The website is still standing and looking nice, so I'm just confused about whether there is any work still being done or possible or not Huh
